Hi all,
I just recieved an order of whole yellow hawaiin caapi vine which thrills me greatly but I was a little disapointed that the vines are so small in diameter, like from finger size down to pencil size. I thought I read somewhere that more mature vine is more active,but possibly it makes little difference? Maybe I'm just looking for something to fret about, but would like it if anyone with knowledge in this area could give me some reassurance.

i wouldn't sweat the vine size my friend. some of strongest caapi ive ever seen was black caapi and it was very slender.

using a good brewing method would make more of a difference than having older vine. :d

The vine is considered mature enough to drink if it as thick as your finger. Consider, also, that it has been dried.

Don't judge a book by its cover... ;) Hawaii has RICH soil.
 
I couldn't have asked for two better responses. MMM, I consider you to be the resident expert on all things Aya and if you're not concerned, then neither am I. This will be my first brew and I just want to try and get everything right. I'm sure I'll be refering to your guide quite alot in the next couple weeks,

Olympus, I always enjoy your posts. I'm going to first do a caapi only journey. I'll brew it loooong and and slow with love and patience, kinda like a good pot of beans. Then next time I'll add some of that good Hawaiian chacruna. Anyhow, the setting and attitude I got,and I'm pretty sure I can pull off the rest! Thanks again for the help.
