Hello, I am zod_mol

I have taken cannabis before. I would love to expand into psychedelics.

My question to you all: What do you like about psychedelics that you don't get from other drugs? I am interested in hearing all types of perspectives.

Hello zod,

That is a loaded question that I personally find really hard to answer, simply because there is so much I love about psychedelics, and so much that I find in them that I've never found in any of the other drugs I've taken.

Perhaps the biggest one is their boundary-dissolving properties. Without going into too much depth about what that really means, I'm just going to say that when the boundary between you, nature, and other people vanishes, you obtain a perspective upon life that can dramatically and completely change your life for the better, if you are ready to let it take root.

Considering the fact that you haven't worked with psychedelics, I want to profer one piece of unsolicited advice to you: do not seek too many (preferably any at all) examples of what trip would substance X, Y, or Z result in, because this will create in your mind a collection of expectation parameters, and when your time to experience said drug comes, should there be any difference between the set of expectations you have and the actual experience, you can find yourself in a dicey situation.

Research all about safety and set and setting and all the good rules of thumb about working with this medicine (which you can easily do on this forum if you want to) and then dive headfirst into this magic without reading any trip reports.

This is how I experienced my first psychedelic and it is to this day the most profoundly healing and amazing journey I've ever had. But I also know all too well the pitfalls of going into an experience with a ton of expectations and how that can shift the overall outcome.

Naturally, if you have any questions, ask away, but also remember that the forum has a pretty powerful search tool.

Take care and enjoy this community <3

Hello Nydex, bless you for this elaborate response! I'm flattered by this warm welcome

Considering the fact that you haven't worked with psychedelics...
Great advice. I have been reading and listening to trip reports, but I view them as pure entertainment. Something to listen to while I'm bored or sleeping.

I have. I have been seeking out podcasts and books discussing DMT and psychedelics. They're both entertaining and eye-opening and get me excited about eventually taking them. I'm even reading research articles about the effects they have on the mind and body. Both positive and negative so I don't bias myself towards one type of thinking.

Though, in all honesty, I am trying to bias my first my first experience into being positive. I don't want to change the world on my first trip, just relax and let the experience speak for itself.

Again, thank you for the warm welcome 🥰
