I’ve recently started extracting again after a long break and I’m currently using a straightforward STB method in a 1 L bottle.
My current setup is:
750 ml water
50 g root bark
50 g NaOH
20 ml naphtha per pull
This has been working well for me.
Someone I met kindly suggested using essentially the same setup, but with twice as much root bark and more naphtha:
750 ml water
100 g root bark
50 g NaOH
50 ml naphtha per pull
So the amount of water and NaOH stays exactly the same. The only differences are 100 g rather than 50 g of bark, and 50 ml rather than 20 ml of naphtha per pull.
I’m curious what people here think about running 100 g of bark in a 1 litre bottle with 750 ml of water.
Has anyone regularly used both 50 g and 100 g batches with this sort of STB setup?
Does the 100 g version become noticeably thicker or more difficult to mix and separate, or does it work just as comfortably?
For anyone who has tried both, I’d be interested to hear which you preferred and why.
Also, am I correct in assuming that the yield will be twice as much using 100g?
