Hi everyone,

I was hoping that someone could help my friend identify a (problem). They have done the extractions methods A/B and when pulled from the freezer it looks like the photos they supplied me, they were just wondering if it just needed to air dry now? It turns straight to a liquid that smells like burnt rubber and this is there first extraction. Any information would be fantastic.

it looks like frozen water to me... are you sure you / your friend did everything right? Can you supply us with more information about what exactly was done, which steps were performed and what solvents / chems were used? Otherwise it's really hard to say.

They had done the lextek to the T apparently with the use of some leaves from a friend of theirs that grows acacia, apparently when vaporized in a lightbolb it has the smell of burning plastic but they want to make sure of the product before trying first. All the products in the lextek were used to.

Could it be DMT n-oxide.?? Just wondering because under the fan for and hour they said no evaporation at all just liquid oil with maybe a slight tinge of yellow.

how much bark was it, how big were the pulls? are these all your pulls combined? Did you pre-evap before freezing? Is it possible water fell in your container? Does your solvent evap clean? Did you throw anything away so far?

I would try recrystallizing your goo see if anything comes out, check FAQ for instructions.

i had the same problem and i realized it was small bits of water from my carbonate wash that didnt fall as fast as most of it did so make sure you do a really good epsom salt dry the way you do it is put some epsom salt on a plate and microwave it for 4 minutes and it will turn hard and cake then once you do your wash or if you are not washing or in this case take all the solvent that is from that extraction and out chunks of the epsom salt into your solvent and shake around and this will absorb all of your water then filter through a coffee filter and i would evap it by half and freeze again when i encountered this problem it held my yield back till i threw that ice stuff back in till it melted and pulled it out with epsom salt then i was able to get a nice snow globe with no interference. good luck and post back to let us know if that worked out for ya!

It was done by friends of mine who i have on the phone atm,

They said Buffalo sallow leaves (Died around 3-4 years grown by a friend of theirs) All material is still kept, No water at all came into contact with container, pre evap was done before freeze and the left over oil does not evaporate under fan and when put in light bulb it boils and has a plastic smell, and the left over shellite from the freeze was put in a seperate bowl and evaped to a white slightly yellow goo.

hmm sounds like it wasnt too concentrated 3 to 4 years is a long time to preserve the leaves and ive never heard of buffalo sallow leaves but ill check it out sounds interesting if your friends want a more reliable yield use MHRB minimal plant fat so no de fatting is needed unless you want to and nice fluffy white spice is truely cosmic.

how much leaves/plant material was used? Did you dry the leaves before you used them?

I don't think your result should be smoked, as it looks nothing like what it should look like. Who knows what it is. I still think it's water what you got there. the smell may come from leftover shellite that's emulsified in the water. the water may have been in the shellite from the final pull off the second A/B step, if the mix wasn't left to settle long enough. Sometimes it's hard to see, if both are clear.
Could also be oils; in that case I would perform another A/B on it, and maybe do a second defat step during the A phase? Though tbh with the info you're giving us, I really have no clue.

You certain your solvent is clean?

Sorry got you a bit confused,

The plant only lived to that age and they had the leaves for only a month or so (they were lucky to come by the leaves as they cannot be taken from their natural habbitat apparently) They will go through everyhting again to re-check what they have done wrong.

ps. SWIM went by thismorning and tried some yellowish goo that had been left in the bottom of another jar and whoa after a few puffs and whoaaa everything had patterns running through it, SWIM has never felt anything like it so there must have been a little problem through the process.
