Heptane(bestine) Vs Naptha

Migrated topic.

I evaporated a small amount of VMP naptha and got an oily residue...I was wondering if I could use Bestine(Heptane) as my pulling solvent using marsofolds A/B tek instead of naptha(I plan on reducing total volume to 20% and freeze precipitating)??? I know Heptane is more expensive...but thats OK...I was planning on using it for recrystalization anyway...

One other question...after I do the 3 Acid Soaks(Mimosa Powder and Water/vinegar in Crockpot) and filter thouroughly how long can I let the filtered liquid sit (in the fridge in my gallon glass wine jug)Before basifying without it going bad???

Any help greatly appreciated...

Heptane is my favorite solvent for extracting freebase. It evaporates really quickly too, so you can evap. instead of freezing if you want.

The acidified mix will last a long time without going bad. Think: pickles. I some times take a month or more to do an extraction if I get really busy and don't have time to mess with it every day.

SWIM would probably find heptane a bit expensive for extraction, but it's not really much of a question for SWIM. It is very nice for purification and recrystallization if that is so desired. SWIM will sometimes go from fumarate to purified freebase by mixing into a sodium carbonate paste, pulling with warm heptane and evaping with a fan (actually with his food dehydrator on maybe 80F in a shot-glass).

SWIM prefers heptane over naphtha for everything naphtha would be used for. SWIM finds the odors of heptane far less intoxicating, and plus it evaporates much faster. SWIM will never use naphtha again.
