Hi, about to try 1st extraction

Hi all, great to be here. I'm interested in DMT, I've been reading since some days about extraction teks. After reading a few times the Lazyman's tek it's somewhat clear, though I'm new to this stuff. this tek looks simple by now compared to other teks. So many teks including this one suggest VM&P Naphtha which seems pretty hard to find. I was wondering if there could be a replacement for it? So I looked into it. Seems like heptane and dcm were considered among the best replacements, toulene and xylene and a few others were brought up too, but there was no definite answer. Can anyone say for certain which one would be fine as a replacement for the Lazyman's tek? I'm not good with the chemistry sorry, but I want to make sure I do it right. Will D-Limonene also work? This one seems somewhat easier to find and with a more reasonable price. Thanks in advance.

VM&P can be found in most hardware/paint stores. Of all the solvents you listed, I would say heptane would be the most direct replacement and likely a better solvent. Many solvents like xylene will work great for pulling, but not so great for re-x and will also dissolve your plastic turkey baster and Mason jar seals.

You can use as a substitute for VM&P Naphtha some Hexane , Heptane or some different Naphtha brand. In case you using Hexane or Heptane, make sure to use hot water bath to warm up your extraction vessel, it is because Heptane and Hexane are more selective solvents than Naphtha, and those two needs to be warmed a little to pull Dimethyltryptamine.

In case if you using Naphtha , you will need an Light hydrotreated Naphtha , not Heavy hydrotreated. Also you can find different solvent brands that contain Naphtha. Try and check around for Naphtha by reading Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of the different solvents. By reading MSDS you can find what specific sovlent contains. For example, Panel Wipe from Tetrosyl is Naphtha. Im not sure if it clean tho, never used it.

After you have found your Solvent the final step is an evaporation test to check if it is clean. Put some drops on the clean mirror or some glass, and see if there is no residue left after evaporation. If the surface is clean your solvent is good to use.

I was no good at chemistry either, just read read read, and it will click eventually.
What material are you using?
If it is ACRB, I would do a mini A/B at the end to clean it up, unless you want goo.

I have a hard time finding good naphtha in big cans where I am, so I have to use ronsonol lighter fluid in the yellow bottle.
Xylene will pull a full spectrum product, naphtha will pull only white crystals. It depends on what you want.
I have used cybs tek a couple times and it is easy to follow and foolproof if your material is good.
A STB is better for MHRB, as there is less fats in it.

Like BioBoostedSpirit said, don't rush it, it's not going anywhere, your extraction will be more successful the more you understand what is happening and what each step is for. My first extraction worked, but my next ones worked better after more reading and learning what is happening chemically. Read lots of teks as they explain things differently.

Q21q21's tek explains a lot of the chemistry and DMT basics in an easy way. Even if you don't extract this way it's worth a read.
