I'm new to the game and I have lots of questions. I've already seen some excellent topics on the site and i'm keen to learn more. I won't ask many questions until I understand exactly what can and can't be mentioned. I will of course try my hardest to behave and apologise in advance if I do unintentionally break a rule.

I ordered myself a DTV5 last night with an XL cup and mouthpiece along with a Centaurus M100. Looking forward to trying that out. If I may be completely honest - I'm yet to try DMT. A friend is sourcing me some. I hyperfocus on subjects that interest me and while researching ways to inhale the substance I couldn't let certain things go.

So before I've even got my hands on any ive obtained a setup that I believe should last a while and deliver a pleasurable experience without wasting product. I hope. Maybe someone here can advise if I have made a mistake? The GVG and other options are out of stock everywhere and I preferred method of a button tbh.

You are in the right place to learn. Main thing is, most of us here would encourage you extract your own DMT rather than buying it, which is not a good idea. It's easier than you think (I managed it with no chemical background at all). Start by reading through some of the extraction teks on here.

This is very much in the plan. I think i have found a tek that I can do myself. I just need to make sure I get the right products. That might take me a while though

I have to make sure I get the right Naphtha. White vinegar should be easy enough to get right though . Either way the process does seem rather daunting for somebody with no experience at all.

So, im not a chemist and I've never done anything like this before but I am quite well versed in MSDS and risk assessment. Particularly COSHH. The Naphtha in the photo on the tek 2 guide i saw ( Q21Q21's Vinegar/Lime A/B Extraction Tek - DMT-Nexus Wiki ) i found the SDS for and the CAS number for the Naphtha was 64742-49-0.

If i buy an SBP3 Naphtha with that CAS number am I buying the correct product?

here are a cpl tips i have seen more senior members recomend over and over .

first read up on safety protacals , use the " KIS KEEP IT SIMPLE rule ",

smaller 50gram or 100gram of bark batchs are much more efficent and safer .

pick a simple STB "straight to base tek or a AB tek "acid to base" , follow the tek to the "T"

no inspetor gaget mixing and matching steps from various teks you might not fully undersand yet .

If it seems to not be working don't throw anything away, ask for help to correct it don't wast .

these are things i have read . that might be helpful

a simple STB made for newbies is NORMANs tek is often recomended once you master that you might expand to other types of tek .

Personally, I have had inconsistent results with burners like the DTV5 or Yocan orbit, or others like that. Many here do better with them than I do with these delivery devices. I have wasted a lot of product 'testing' these things. And even if it does work great for you, you are still stuck holding a hot object when you have forgotten what a hand was for in the 1st place!
Personally, I much prefer making vape carts. You can make them as strong or chill as you like (I have settled on 700mg of spice plus .3ml of PG in a 1ML cart, this seems to be my sweet spot) I use a simple tek myself. 150g of sodium hydroxide to 750ml of distilled water- I put it in an earlenmyer flask, and place the flask in a bath of cold water because its exothermic- when it is at room temp, I add 100g of MHRB, then I smoke a 10 seconds hit and focus on the flask as I mix it for a good 5 minutes. I mix it every once an hour for 4 or five hours, whatever, then I add my naphta. Mix a couple of times, but DO NOT MIX it for a good 4-5 hours before you do your pull. keep it still and steady so as not to disturb the line break of the base and the naphta. Pull the naphta with a pipette, and add more when you have pulled all the naphta. I get 4-5 pulls out of each batch, with diminishing returns and quality. I tend to store it by batch AND by pull, I don't usually mix them. put the naphta into a clean pyrex recipient and stick in in the freezer overnight or a bit more. Pipette out the naphta as best you can (you can re-use it for 3 or 4 pulls no stress) and flip your pyrex plate upside down to dry. When it no longer smells like solvent, but like deep earth and jasmin, you are ready to scrape. I use a one sided razor blade and a rounded scaper for the corners. weigh your yield (invest in a 3 decimal scale, and make sure you use it at room temp.) and identify the jar you put it in (over time, you will accumulate a shit ton of these jars, so maybe invest in a acrylic paint pen or a P-touch)
to make a cart, place a shot glass in a container with just boiled water, make sure there is no danger of water getting in your shot glass, or mini beaker or whatever. add your spice in there, it will start to melt a bit. Then add .3ml of PG (I use a metal tipped syringe for this) mix it up all nice and smooth with the syringe tip, suck it up, and add it slowly to a 1ml cart. screw the top on while its still hot, and you are ready to rock. (make sure to LABEL your carts...very important) @700mg/cart, 30 seconds of pull is a full breakthrough (3X10 works, but 2X15 is better), 15-20 is deeply meditative and 10 is light emersion!
If you want to be a data geek like me, weigh your cart dry and empty. weigh it again when full. I weigh it each 10 sessions or so, and note the difference, this allows me to have a fairly precise calculation of how much I am getting per second of puff time. ( I also journal each trip, with precise puff times, voltage, etc....each time..yes I know...) on average, I get almost preceidely 700 seconds per cart, which is pretty close to 1mg per second inhaled.
