I've just recently begun researching the molecule in question (DMT). I've heard of it for some time now, but do to several reasons, I have not had the time to "get into" it before now.

Not so long into my journey I came across dmt-nexus' forums and faq's and I've read allot of interesting stuff so far Thank you guys for this lovely collection of related material!

I have come to know, by now, that DMT (for smoking) must be extracted from MHRB. I cannot say that I have the best of chemistry knowledge, but I think with great certainty that I will succeed in learning this technique (just for educational purposes of course).

I have also read up on several books on DMT topics. Very interesting reading indeed

Though I have done allot of other psychedelic substances at this point in time, I understand that DMT is something other entirely. I feel I have adequate experience and "set" to undergo the DMT experience when the time comes, but I am also humble in it's presence

I would love to get "invited" (so to say) to your community so that I can learn from you great guys first hand

Many people who extract have no chemistry experience,
my advice would be to continue reading. The more you know, the easier it will be.

First, thanks for the welcomming

I have been so lucky as to reach the age of 31. In my younger years (think 12-18y) I did a lot of psilocybin, LSD, MDMA (or just plain xtc at times). I also did methamfetamines and other drugs.

This whole drug thing ended with addiction to heroin and flunitrazepam (rohypnol). I was in the shit-grip in 7 years or so before I decided I was tired of always having to do drugs - not because I wanted to, but because I had to - so I just outright quit. I spent some time becoming myself again, so to say

For about a year ago I felt an urge to "go places" again. I was getting bored with my normal state of mind :/ It was not an option to do some of those shit-drugs (spirit killing drugs, like those inhabiting me before), so I decided to take up (my somewhat old) interst in psychedelics.

I had no intentions, just an urge for something besides the normal reality. So I decided to take the mushroom (p. semilanceata to be specific). This was to be a profound reentering to an old familiar landscape I liked it so much, that it became somewhat of a weekend "thing", I did mushrooms in the weekends, mostly alone (I have no contact with my old friends anymore due to drug [abuse] related stuff).

I then learned the art of mushroom growing.. This was a step in itself in my psychedelic journey, and a lot of books on the subject was read, the best on I found to be Psilocybin Mushroom Handbookby L.G. Nicholas and Kerry Ogamé.

I read the book "The Psilocybin Solution" by Simon G. Powell. This was in a search for more "content" in my mushroom experiences. I had the feeling that they (my trips that is) could be used for something more than just pure enjoyment. I got allot from reading his book, but mostly I started to notise the flow of information recieved while on psilocybin (and other psychedelics for that matter).

I also started to listen to Terence McKenna. He talked about many subjects I found interesting, not just about psychedelic but also other interesting topics. I found that Apple's podcast app was (besided youtube though) was my best friend in search for McKenna's lessons. Right now I am in the midst of reading his book "Invisible Landscape" although it is a slow proccess :/

I've read some books on LSD and MDMA production by uncle fester and otto, but this was a dead end. It is way above my knowledge on the subject (maybe a dream, and should definitly stay that way for now).

I have read generally up on tryptamines. Shulgins books on tryptamines was interesting reading, technical but enjoyable..

I have heard stories about DMT since I was a youngster, but I have never had the posibillity to try it out. Under the research into McKenna I started to wonder more about DMT, so I decided it was time to learn more about it. I started by reading all what I could find online (that was when I stumbled over dmt-nexus btw), then found some literature on the subject. First I read Rick Strassman's "DMT: The Spirit Molecule". This book got me even more interested in the DMT experience.

I started reading about how to get hold of some DMT and it would soon be clear that this required some work on my part. I have now read all the teks on ther subject of extraction. Also I have read up on the materials used in said proccess'.

I guess it is just a matter of time and work before someone (maybe not me though...) get's to be introduced to the DMT landscape

I have started reading "The Tibetian Book of the Dead", after reading about the subject (in regards to DMT) in Rick Strassman's book. I find it interesting to know a little about it beforehand of any DMT experiences..

I do not believe in religion per se, but I do regard myself as "spiritual". I have spend many hours in my lifetime poundering what (the f...) I'm doing here on earth, in this form. I do believe (somewhat) in the teachings of buddhism. But I'm not that well wersed in that field. It absolutely is a field I'm keen on exploring more!

You said you wanted to be invited into the community, and sharing some info so people get to know you is a good way to do that.

I don't usually post much, but like to sometimes welcome new members because it wasn't to long ago that I was one myself.

Your story sounds a lot like my own, I also just turned 31.
I toyed with all the same substances for many years, then some toyed with me.:shock:
Dealing with several different kinds of addictions, struggling for years, then working my way out from under the thumb.

It does take time and work, but is soooo worth it IMO.

I'm gonna go down the DMT road for sure After some reading (and supply considerations) I have decided upon Q21Q21's tek.

Will post my reports when things are done... ....maybe some questions along the road too

Welcome to the community Hominid, great introduction! I'm still somewhat of an experienced beginner myself, but judging from your attitude I'd say this research will suit you quite well. You'll fit in just fine, my friend :thumb_up:

After some reading (and supply considerations) I have decided upon Q21Q21's tek.

What source of DMT will you be using in your extraction? Assuming it's a. confusa, while many report success using ACRB with Q21Q21's tek, I believe it's supposed to yield much less product than when used with Mimosa. However, I haven't tried it myself so can't really say.
In my latest extraction I used Cybs' Hybrid ATB 'Salt' Tek, which has given me the best results so far with Confusa. It's a relatively quick and simple tek worth taking a look at, if you haven't already. Go with what you feel will work best for you though obviously. Just a little tip :d

In regards to your suggestion of Cybs' Hybrid ATB 'Salt' Tek, I have a question about Naphtha:

I was at a local "everything you need" store the other day and found a bottle of this stuff one would use for firing up ones grill

At the back, it was declared as: "naphtha petroleum hydrotreated heavy" (this is translated directly from Norwegian btw).

I read the safety-sheet (it stood "EF-number: 265-150-3" on the back), and it stated that it contains "naphtha petroleum hydrotreated heavy" 100% and n-Hexane 0,1-1%.

Is it safe to assume that this is what I can use as Naphtha? If so I would definitely look at the naphtha method.

I have tried to read up on the whole naphtha area, but I find it to be confusing (at the least). So I instead went for the d-Limonene/Lime/Vinegar approach :/

Okay, so if the naphtha in question does not leave any impurities I can be certain of using it for extraction?

I have read about different types of naphtha, light versions/heavy versions etc. and so on... I just want to be sure...

But I'll buy a bottle and give it a go, thanks for answering

Yes, that is exactly what you'd want. When I was preparing for my first extraction, the use of naphtha threw me off a liitle bit as well. I was actually even drawn to Q21Q21's tek myself, but changed my mind at the last minute lol But don't let the naphtha detour you from a certain method. It's very simple once you try it.

I'm jealous. Mimosa is supposed to be much better for extractions compared to Confusa, but it's difficult if at all possible to obtain some here in the States anymore :thumb_dow

Btw, I must say I really like the idea of having to go through the whole process of obtaining knowledge, materials etc. before "allowed" to try DMT...

It really gives one time to think about the process, why one want to do it and it sort of becomes something special...

- Not just going to the guy down-the-street and score some LSD :/ It's kinda the same thing with the mushroom, it needs to be grown before consumed. This gave swim some time to think about that process too

I think this is a good process to go through before trying these potent substances, as long as one has the opportunity to do so.

Swim has some plans on getting to know the Salvia Goddess too (as soon as possible), swims not in the mood for growing the Salvia Divinorum plant just "to get there" though maybe the whole growing/extracting thing with regards to Salvia seems a little interesting too

I agree completely. The process of having to research and work toward your goal encourages the better understanding and respect for the substance that you should have coming into this subject. Also filters out some that are just looking to get high.

Are you talking about his MAX ION tek? This is new to me as well, but I just read over it a little bit. It seems to be more precise in its directions than the Hybrid ATB 'Salt' tek which could get confusing for a first time extraction, but I say if you understand the tek and feel comfortable with each step, go for it man :thumb_up:

I just found out that heptane is possible to get in the local hardware stor Nice... Not having to deal with that whole light/heavy naphtha thing....

I can't wait to start Cyb's tek... Had a trip on the mushroom yesterday, had my eyes closed trying to get more of a sence for the "inner world"... I'm so looking forward to going deeper into my own psyce

Sorry if it seems as if I'm totally missing something here, but I really need an answer to this light/heavy naphtha issue... I have this bottle of naphtha (hydrogen treated, heavy) and I wonder if it can be used for extraction?

I can read in Cyb's tek that naphtha should be "light", is there any difference? Can I use the heavy version I've got?

It leaves no residues ...

I have just gotten my MHRB and is keen on starting this process as soon as possible

Sorry if this reply is a little late but the naphtha you have should be perfectly fine. Light is more common, and while I'm not very aware of the differences between light and heavy myself, I think I recall reading some say heavy is preferred in extractions.
