Hot naphtha=not very active goo but room temp naphtah = xtals?

So SWIM is an absolute beginner. Tried one extraction so far with ACRB. First 3 pulls used hot naphtha and only got a white film that turned into goo on the jar after freeze precipitation. Yield was pretty weak as well and the goo is active but doesn't seem like DMT from all the hours of reading he's done.

On the fourth and fifth pull SWIM just used room temp naphtha and is getting xtals that don't melt at room temp! Very excited to hopefully break through. With the goo even very high saturation infused with leaf(maybe not enough)its not working.

So the real thing is why is SWIM getting low yield goo with hot naphtha and decent yield xtals when using room temp naphtha? Seems odd but maybe the hot naptha is pulling oils and other alkaloids as well instead of mostly dmt?

Either way very happy at this point. Have jars upside down in freezer with napkins draining and hopefully making it easier to get out. Thanks for all the great info and support!

My whole goal here is really to learn and give back to this awesome community but I don't feel I can do that without at least trying another extraction. I think I'll start another tonight haha we'll see.

My most recent extraction was mainly an experiment in process - one which I feel went very well! (Albeit with some counter-intuitive numbers eventually, but that's another story...). I do small extractions by the way; 50g to 70g MHRB at a time.

I had the same problem. I heated up the nps too much while it was in the mixture in a water bath and it totally dissolved in the mixture ( my problem was that my miture wasnt really dry so i guess that could have caused the problem). Anyways now i know it is better to not heat it at all then mess it up. Now i am thinking of waiting for the nps in the mixture to completely evap. Then instead of putting the mixture in oven , is it wise to just dry it out with a blowdryer ? My mixture is in a thermo resistant glass pot but still i do not feel like putting it in the oven, though i am Positive it would withstand the advised 90-100 temp.




Completely off topic : i have been surfing around for quite a while now and i was wondering when will i get promoted to take part in ther other parts of the forum. I also somewhat tried to fill the quiz as good as possible. It is more of a stating an informative question than saying promote me now!. Thanks in advance.

I've also had mixed results with with the extractions, as people have said hot naphtha seems to absorb more alkaloids, and on more than one occasion I've noticed crystals melting after freeze precipitation. I think it's probably best to just do more non polar solvent pulls instead of using heat, and then perhaps condense the solvent prior to freeze precipitation. Instead of doing heated pulls.
