Not really any reasonable resemblance but those unopened Stapelia hirsuta flowers made me think of Little Shop of Horrors.
nibiru x AwfulI was always told you have to wait for the soil temp to hit 40-45ish f for them to fruitI was not expecting those months to be the season, I'm shocked I was assuming April-May. My planned timeline was during those months and being able to hit up med summer down in the Okanagan Valley!
I live closer to the Kootenays and love the area! Spent a lot of time up off White Swan Lake FSR, we hit up trails all over there. One of our friends have a trailer kinda near Primer Lake. Super Nice spot.
If it wont pup maybe you could graft a pup with aeriolas to it.Grats on the new TBM!
Speaking of TBM, has anyone successfully gotten one to pup from a cutting with no aeriolas?
I acquired a six inch long by about two inch wide TBM mid cutting that a friend cut over three years ago and it's not done anything.
I've had the conversation with him about I don't think it'll do anything and may be one that we scrap to recoup a bit of space. My reasoning has been due to the lack of aeriola, which is where all my trichocereus pup from. Wanted to see if anyone had a differing experience.
When I was new to TBM I got a pup with no areolas , or else there was maybe one and I planted it underground not knowing. It sat there growing very slowly for well over a year. I thought it just grew that slowly. Then, finally, it pupped from under the soil.Grats on the new TBM!

Areoles are essential for pupping. Your only other hope would be if it spontaneously pups from the roots. If it can be induced to form aerial roots through shading, hormone (BAP?) treatment of that root might give you a pup.Grats on the new TBM!

So 'flower food' might be an OTC source of BAP?Molecule of the Week said:In a recent C&EN “Periodic Graphics” page, author Andy Brunning included 6-benzyladenine in a roundup of how “flower food” helps to preserve cut flowers. He notes that the growth regulator’s contribution to preservation is maintaining petal colors. 6-Benzyladenine is similarly used to extend the shelf lives of broccoli florets and shredded cabbage to make them more attractive to customers.
Try the urea. It really does help pupping. If your cactus is outside, urine is free.
I am mostly going by what I've read elsewhere but I live in a temperate climate and put 10 or so cuttings out every year, and I do pee on the outdoor cuttings the first half of the growing season. I do think I see more pupping from the base and double pups. What kind of difference are you seeing with pups and urea?
Many in my collection was cut last fall into dormancy or in spring exiting it. I'm getting usually one to four pups per column and several already had multiple columns. If that can be improved then I'd happily give it a trial.
Is there any method to it where it needs collected and to sit for a period to convert anything in it?
