How long is a lye/water/mhrb/nap mixture "good" for?

Because of my situation, I only really have a single night a week to try to do a pull...my lye/water/mhrb/nap mixture is about 2 weeks old now and I won't get a chance to try at another pull again until Friday (I messed up the last two). Is there a point where the mixture is no longer good?

Don't worry, you could let it sit there for months and there would be no significant yield loss, as far as we know.

Better to keep it in a dark, not-too-warm place in any case.

I keep it in a locked filing cabinet in my basement...it's good to know that I won't have to start all over, ie. adding the lye to the water, then the mhrb, then the nap, etc. etc.

I've noticed that if i leave the aqueous solution(lye/RB/H2O) in the extraction container for more than a week or so the Naphtha will turn SUPER CLOUDY when it seperates. It sometimes turns a really dark orange-ish color and is literally THICK N' CLOUDY.

Nothing like the initial extractions.

I have also noticed this effect if pulling with Xylene after my initial naphtha pulls. Its like the xylene will pull all this cloudy stuff along with any remaining DMT. I don't know if thats what we consider the "Jungle spice" or what because i've never smoked jungle spice that was produced by anyone else. But for me, it usually produces a really orange and sticky product that doesn't really ever dry completely. Almost resinous.

I get the same effect if i leave MHRB/LYE/H2O/NAPTHA in the extraction jar for much more than a week or so.

Does anyone know if this means i'm using too much lye? I usually stick with the 1:1 ration lye to MHRB but i wonder sometimes if that is too much when you get to doing larger amounts of MHRB at a time

How much lye/mhrb are you using at once?

Also, when is the "initial extraction?" An hour after you put the naptha in? 24 hours after you put the naptha in? etc.

I usually use a 1:1 lye/MHRB ratio. So 100gs MHRB to 100gs NAOH. I usually only extract a maximum of 250gs of powdered MHRB at a time as i'm comfortable with these ratios and have excellent and consistent results. I use a large gallon and a half sized glass apple cider jar with the little handle on it like a carl rossi wine jug. This jug is from the 60's and my mother gave it to me to use for this purpose.

I usually pull 3-4 times and extract the majority of the alkaloids withing the first couple hours and generally this gets almost everything. I'm averaging 1-2% yield regularly, which i am very happy with. (Using naphtha). Then I let the jug sit in a dark cabinet for up to a week to hopefully allow for any remaining joy to navigate its way into the aqueous solution, sometimes a little longer. I continue to agitate the mixture whenever I think about it. It seems like after a week I start getting this really milky naphtha that seperates. Its anywhere from an extremely milky yellowish color to a dark orangish milky color. I'm assuming that as as the NAOH continues to break down the MHRB that it starts letting more of the oils/tannis to come out into the solvent.

The same thing happens when i'm done with my naphtha pulls and throw some xylene in for a final two xylene pulls. With the xylene it will seperate VERY milky almost everytime. The solvent(naphtha) on the initial pulls remains clear to a yellowish color but still translucent.(it clouds up instantly when i put it in the freezer and i don't pulle it out of the freezer until it has become clear again) If i let it sit for a while, or if i pull with xylene, the solvent gets really milky and you cannot see through it.

I did a couple xylene pulls last night and it was VERY milky when i pulled it, but when i put it under the fan for evaporation it became clear again, but very dark reddish/brown in color.

I end up being left with a very orange to brownish sort of playdoh textured product. It dries up with varying results. Sometimes it dries up pretty well, sometimes it stays kind of sticky and resinous.

I've had this a few times as well, it looked dark brown. That's why I do all the pulls in one day now. Even after just leaving it overnight I notice the naphtha starts to change color slightly, which isn't really a problem.. But if left for a long period of time It usually gets really dark. I'm not sure why this only happens some of the time

I left it for half a year once, and did manage to salvage some spice although I was fairly dark nap

One time I did an evaporation instead of a freeze precipitatoin just to see what kind of results that i got out of it. I ended up pulling alot of spice. Similar yield to all other methods i have tried, except for this spice came out DARK BROWN. And i mean like almost as dark as the the MHRB/H20/Lye that was soaking in the extraction jar.

I wasn't too happy with these weirdo results as i'd never seen anything that dark brown. However it had the same structure/consistency of my white and yellow spice so i didn't know what to think. As a precaution i dissolved the dark brown spice into some warm heptane and let it mix thoroughly. Once it was dissolved and settled, i poured off the top layer of heptane and left the 1/2" thick later of brown stuff in the bottom of my shot glass. Strangely the remaining gunk from the bottom of the shot glass totally dried out and it had the texture of Hasish! It was very light brown and solid. It had the same texture/consistency of certain has that i had enjoyed in the past.

Out of curiousity i scraped it out and loaded it up into the GVG and vaped it.

This hash-like/crumbly pile of "impurities" tasted absolutely incredible! It was light brownish in color and you could see crystal clear DMT shards inside of it. It was truly beautiful and the smoke was heavenly whether it was vaped, or combusted. It tasted nothing like anything i'd ever vaped before. It was so floral/sweet/aromatic and it was very active. I have yet to recreate this type of product but the "impurities"(the hashy stuff) tasted almost magical that it resulted in a better smokable product than the dmt itself

I was planning on doing that exact wash. Does the spice come out any "worse" if it's pulled out after a few weeks? Or are you just being precautionary?

Last time, used the poured off Naptha from the white snow globes (freeze). Heated it up to very hot, as well as the jar of basified solution. Rolled Naptha every ten minutes or so for about an hour. In between rolls, put jar into hot bath to keep temp up. Naptha became that apple juice color. didn't wash this time. did series of evap, freeze, evap, freeze, complete evap (no real reason for this series, couldn't make up my mind). Made for an abundance of yellow spice.


Both smell wonderful.

As for trip. Really hard to say. My pipe is so full of resin, I could probably resin hit it and break through. It's not really good for testing different color spice

Also, if it has sat for a week or two, what is the best way to extract it? He's used a stb tek... mhrb / sh / nap.

Honestly, Very unfamiliar with STB.
Maybe keep reading and researching until you find something you feel comfortable with?
Maybe go with your gut/tek and keep notes on where you differed from the tek and report results?
Maybe start a thread in General Extractions Help with more detail?

i did WATCHAS-TEK, once, following word by word..
first pull with fresh naphta truely dark brown after pulling....
the n i decided to use some used naphta from an extraction before, and it all came out nice yellowish ..
then i combined all 5 pulls i did, did the washing process twice and the result you can see here after freeze precip


ihavent tried to rex it yet, cause i tried 3 times with naphta,on different batches and fter freezing and drying (head over in the fridge it was completely gone.
now i finally got some bestine which seems to be pretty hard to get in Germany....
but i am scared of using it, because of the loss of all the yield before with naphta...whats the naphta u use for pulling???

still working on my first batch. A friend and mixed the lye/MHRB over a month ago and we are still getting worthwhile yeilds when we pull. Used 1lb of MHRB and about 300mg of lye, Naptha as our solvent. The spice we have gotten from our later pulls has definitely been more yellow. But it's potency has not noticeably decreased in the slightest. Going to begin twin extractions, each with 1.1 lb of MHRB starting on tuesday. I can't wait to see those nice pure white crystals, but I will still appreciate the yellow ones I get later on.
