I know I've seen quite a few folks on here mention that they're working on writing books. I think it's really cool that so many people here have been so inspired. :)

I'm one of them; I'm working on a book about the psychoactive plants that have played central roles in human cultures throughout history. My approach is multidisciplinary, focusing on history, chemistry, pharmacology, effects, and human use. It's a hefty project but I enjoy writing and take pleasure in the work.

So let's hear it: How many of you are aspiring authors or writers? What sort of books or projects are you working on?

I am compiling one of poetry, experiences, art, ideas and opinions all based around entheogenic activity. Just something fun and thought compelling to read about our favorite topics in the universe :]
It will be freely distributed online as a .pdf and will be passed around gatherings I attend.

I'd read that! Sounds like a great project

I've written one book last year (literary fiction). Got it's good and it's bad parts, not sure if it's really worth the edit but i might finish the editing just so my friends can read it.

I´m preparing 2 books. The one is about drugs called somehow like ,From alcohol to 5-methoxy-dimethyltryptamine´ and the second about a cultural history of dimethyltryptamine itself by the name of ,Golden chain of Everyone: A cultural history of N,N-dimethyltryptamine´. Gonna publish it on the Scribd.

It's cool to see how many of us are writers or aspiring writers of one variety or another.

Obliguhl, congrats on finishing. Have you thought about shopping it around to publishers once you give it a once-over edit? All they can say is yes or no.

It's hard to get published. Especially for a first time writer usually you have to actually pay for the printing yourself. There are resources out there to use I think amazon actually has some deal where they will 'publish' your book you pay for X amount of copies to be made and they put it up on their site you get the money from the sales. Still most of what those here are writing about is stuff that would be of interest to only a select few type of people. But people here are writing as a output for their experiences so wealth and fame is not their motivation.

swim recently contributed to a book chapter which was published. wish swim could share it but can't

swim only writes really technical science stuff though nothing artsy anymore.

What was the specific subject matter?

Methtical

Thanks entropymancer! I don't know. It would propably need some heavy editing and rewriting because some parts are just so childish, i don't know wether i should laugh or cry. But other chapters sound amazing and I owe that to psychs because it shaped the way i write. More synaesthesia prose.
