How should DMT taste?

I've read that after a good purification, dmt should taste slightly bitter but without burning the tongue. My friend Jose from Brazil did sodium carbonate washes and at least 1 recrystallisation. But it still burns his tongue very badly. It'sslightly yellow.

Should he be worried ?

Freebase DMT gives a burn feeling to mucous, whatever pure it is.

It always burns, even if completely pure. It's not actually a chemical burn though. It's a sensation somewhat like hot chilies. After a while the tongue will go numb if enough is tasted.

The same is true for 5-MeO-DMT. 5-MeO-DMT burns much more though.

Both taste very similar. SWIM thinks they taste like bitter plastic. The plastic taste is pretty strong and long lasting in the mouth. The plastic aftertaste will linger for many minutes.
