You can just leave it out. A fan speeds it up, but make sure you remove the fan before the crystals are exposed to the air, or you risk oxidizing your goodies.
If you're just doing a naphtha pull, freeze precipitation is probably a better idea. It just involves leaving the naphtha in the freezer for about 4-24 hours, and then pouring the naphtha off and scraping up the crystals that have formed. It's cleaner and produces a purer product.
As temperature changes, condensations form...as in water being pulled out of the cool freezer air & collecting on the inside of your jar!!
You don't want this. It turns to ice & looks almost identical to the crystals (if their good & clean) making it much harder to dry out after you've siphoned off the naptha later. And causing it to make more of a pile of DMT similar to sand, rather than actual fully formed crystals.
If you have no tight sealing lid, 2-3 layers of plastic wrap works fine.
cover with plastic wrap, tightly seal with rubber band.
Another layer of plastic wrap...another rubber band, under the first.
Then another layer of plastic wrap...& another rubber band, under the second.
Makes a great seal!
I even use a layer of plastic wrap under the lid of any freeze precip jar just to make sure!
Definitely suggested. Otherwise, any food in the freezer may end up with a tangy naphtha aftertaste.
