How to explain freebase in logic terms?

Hi there,

I hanging around on this forum for years now more in the shadows because i read alot but now i put so much time to find the perfect way to make a mimosa extract i search for some awnsers and thought maybe someone can help me out a bit.....

Does anyone know terms of freebase spice? like for acid spices there are terms like acetate, tartrate, ascobate, fumarate, citrate ect.....
But how about molecules with a base charge? when fused with things like calcium hydroxide or sodium (bi)carbonate or sodium chloride...
I like to understand what happens with the DMT and what parts are fusing together...
What makes it freebase and what are the different therms in this category?

Freebase DMT is simply the DMT molecule with nothing added.
A DMT salt - let's say DMT acetate - is the DMT molecule with an acetate anion (C₂H₃O⁻₂) attached to it, so the complete formula is DMT CH3COOH , which dissociates into DMT H+ (protonated DMT) and C₂H₃O⁻₂ (acetate anion) in solution.

When DMT acetate reacts with a base, let's say calcium hydroxide ( Ca(OH)₂ ), the pronotated DMT H+ cation loses the proton and becomes freebase DMT; the proton goes back to the acetate anion, yielding acetic acid. The acetic acid and calcium hydroxide participate in a neutralization reaction, which yields water and calcium acetate.

With any base it's essentially the same, but the by-products will be different. For example, sodium bicarbonate with acetic acid will yield water, sodium acetate and CO2. But the resulting freebase DMT will be the same.

Sodium chloride (table salt) is not a base, so it won't freebase your DMT.

Ok thank you for this helpful information i think i start to understand better now...
I try to understand the chemistry and i think that negative charged DMT always search for someting to and positive charged DMT does not so thats why it's called freebase?
Nice! i was wondering about it because when i did a extract with lye the end product was extreme high in PH (like 13 or something), that's why i stopped using it i like to end with a PH somewhere between 7.5 a 9.5 if possible...
I like to find a way to make spice save with as much food grade materials as possible and i'm happy with this forum the best place to study this subject i hope i start to understand the basics of this kind of chemistry soon and will post results if my experiments start to succeed

Freebase DMT is neutral.
DMT salts are neutral too, but when they dissociate in solution into protonated DMT and an acid anion (sorry if I'm not using the right term), the former is positively charged. But even when you ingest a dissolved DMT salt, what you're ingesting has an overall neutral charge, because the positively charged protonated DMT is accompanied by the negatively charged acid ions.

Freebase DMT has a high pH on its own, even without lye contamination. It's what you want for smoking / vaping though.
For oral administration, it's better to convert it into a salt, e.g. by dissolving it in vinegar, lemon juice or any other food-grade acid. In salt form, it's absorbed more efficiently and easier on the stomach.
