Hi there!
As an easily availble source of entheogen, I am interested in Phalaris.
When proper extraction teks are established,
this herb may become next trend in Nexus....

I have been experimenting with this plant for a couple of months now,
growing itself is not difficult,
but anyone know how to harvest seeds from Phalaris?
Is Manual pollination necessary, or just let them grow and harvest?

Thanks in advance

I know for a fact that Brachystachys will pollinate itself (may need a few plants though? I'm not sure, all my plants grow next to each other). Frequent trimming will cause the plant to go to seed early, and once the seedhead has dried out the seeds can be shaken into a cup or bag or be plucked manually.

If you're working with Arundinacea or Aquatica those will reproduce rhizomously, and any plant reproduced through that method will be an exact clone of the parent plant.

Thanks neuro.

I studied a little bit more again after I read your post.
It's written on the internet that as for Phragmites, it produces male flowers and female flowers and bisexual flowers, all of them. Don't know about Phalaris, though.

And as for making seeds,Phalaris can do self-pollination, cross-pollination, and agamospermy. Interesting.

Anyway, if they do pollination, there has to be an organ that produces pollens. Where is it?
I can see seeds(I don't know for sure if these are seeds, but there are small missile-like green heads on top of each stem) on my Brachystachys, but no flowers. There may be flowers if I wait for a while, but why seeds come first then flower? Flowers should come first..... that's what I am wondering....

And how can I cross-pollinate brachy?

For my Brachystachys the seeding stage works like this,
First the stalk swells where the seedhead is growing inside it, then the seedhead (the missile-like green heads that you talk about) comes out, usually it will have small tan particles on it. I believe that this is how it pollinates itself (I'm not sure though, I don't know much about plant reproduction). After a few weeks the seedhead will dry out and the seeds can be harvested.

However, I've never noticed flowers of any sort on my plants. I don't think Brachystachys produces them (at least not in the conventional sense).
