I am new and unsure what to do next

Migrated topic.

Just did my first pull and am unsure about how to proceed.
First I'll tell you how it was done and what i used.

The solvent i used was the Bartoline stuff from B&Q. On subsequent reading I have noticed that it does work but is maybe not the solvent that produces the best results due to it's being a heavy solvent.
I am going out to get some Ronsonol this afternoon but what's done is done for just now.

I have followed Noman's tek and put the jars in the freezer and when I checked them the next day I found that one jar (the first one I put in) has lots of solid globules stuck to the bottom of it. Am I right in thinking that this is what i am after? Only they did not look very 'crystally'.
The next 2 jars just contained cloudy solvent but no bits stuck to the jar.

I was also wondering at what point I should syphon off the solvent from the mixing jar because I have noticed that when I turn the jar and mix the solvent round the solution there seem to be lots of twinkly stuff in the solvent which eventually dies down. I thought it was bubbles at first but it is very sparkly leading me to believe that it is indeed the crystal stuff I am looking for.
Should I syphon as soon as the layers have seperated or am I right to wait til the mixture is still once more?

I have emptied the solvent into a dish to try and evaporate it a bit before re-freezing and I have put the jars in the freezer again only this time upside down to try and drip any stray solvent of the product on the bottom of the jar.
What should I do with the product next? I was going to invest in some wee rubber spatulas to scrape it off later on today.

Using a pure solvant is most important for your health, and it is extremely recommended that you perform an evaporation test (that is, put about 5-10cl of your solvant in a clean transparent glass dish and let it evaporate at room temp and then check for any residue -usually sticky and a bit smelly- that would indicate an unsuitable solvant) before use. You don't wanna risk smoking impurities, so you should start by doing this.

The rest of your extraction could also be influenced by the presence of impurities in the solvant, making it hard to say if the "solid globules" and "twinkly stuff" are pure DMT.

Evaporating half the solvant before freezing (the colder the better) helps ensure good precipitation, and the DMT should then stick in crystals or flakes to the bottom and sides of the jars.

What should I do with the product next?
Once the solvant is poured out, close the jar (to avoid condensation) to let it get back to room temp, and then open it to let the product dry out completely.

But really, do make a test evaporation before tasting what you've got.

Hope this helps,

Cheers

I know the bartoline premium white spirit has been used by others successfully. I spilt some on a glass table when I was painting my room and forgot to clean it up. clean it up. But it evaporated and there was no residue to clean. The MSDS or whatever you call it indicates 100% naptha, but you might want to check this out for yourself.
