Just did my first pull and am unsure about how to proceed.
First I'll tell you how it was done and what i used.
The solvent i used was the Bartoline stuff from B&Q. On subsequent reading I have noticed that it does work but is maybe not the solvent that produces the best results due to it's being a heavy solvent.
I am going out to get some Ronsonol this afternoon but what's done is done for just now.
I have followed Noman's tek and put the jars in the freezer and when I checked them the next day I found that one jar (the first one I put in) has lots of solid globules stuck to the bottom of it. Am I right in thinking that this is what i am after? Only they did not look very 'crystally'.
The next 2 jars just contained cloudy solvent but no bits stuck to the jar.
I was also wondering at what point I should syphon off the solvent from the mixing jar because I have noticed that when I turn the jar and mix the solvent round the solution there seem to be lots of twinkly stuff in the solvent which eventually dies down. I thought it was bubbles at first but it is very sparkly leading me to believe that it is indeed the crystal stuff I am looking for.
Should I syphon as soon as the layers have seperated or am I right to wait til the mixture is still once more?
I have emptied the solvent into a dish to try and evaporate it a bit before re-freezing and I have put the jars in the freezer again only this time upside down to try and drip any stray solvent of the product on the bottom of the jar.
What should I do with the product next? I was going to invest in some wee rubber spatulas to scrape it off later on today.
