I have a question about the kind of dish to use when freeze precipitating.

I was just wondering if you HAVE to use glass or pyrex for some kind of chemical reason? Or could someone use a clear, hard plastic Tupperware with a sealing lid?

It's not recommended. Naphtha can dissolve certain plastics, even just the vapors can warp plastic lids covering glass dishes.
