After much reading into alternative methods of cleaning teeth

as opposed to Fluoride

I decided to stop using any paste

I now have used only baking soda for over two months

my teeth feel much stronger

and are actually very clean and smooth

METHOD: I now simply put some water in my mouth and follow with one fifth of a teaspoon of B.SODA
dissolve in mouth and brush with a soft toothbrush.

also you can mix a watery paste in a plate and work from that.

ALSO. I have now bought a bag of calcium powder, ' literally egg shells crushed and purified to a super fine powder
HERE. I bought 500g of B.Soda $2.50
and Calcium powder same price 500g %2.50

The B.soda, ~ when dissolved in water is much less abrasive than even most normal toothpastes

Usually I used to get sensitive teeth.
and was amazed when this actually went away using baking soda.
honestly there was a week or two where a couple of teeth hurt.
but now nada!

My gums flared for about a week, but now are fine

my teeth feel awesome.

I used to love the taste of TOOTHPASTE, now I cannot stand to even kiss my Woman straight after she has brushed hers with TOOTHPASTE.
she says she will Swap soon.

EVEN the waxes in toothpaste are reported to block goodness from veges, Minerals and Vitamins from reaching our teeth the OL' normal way.
the wax build up can take like 15 or 18 good brushes with B.Soda to be removed.

its also good to change your Brush after a week or two of only using B.Soda.

It does taste pretty Horrid for about three weeks, the Baking Soda,
but you get used to it
and with a calcium powder its so much worth it and better for your teeth!

the B.soda alkalizes the mouth keeping the bacteria that grow in thereto a healthy level.
and the calcium powder would also do the same.
still because the calcium powder is pure You Should still Not swallow but should SPIT!
Ahahahaaaa

also I try to eat as few sweets as possible these days, though I am only Human, And all Humans LOVE a good Sugar Dose now and then ahahahahahaaaa
Usually mint lollies

Well For Me that's one great Source of Sodium Fluoride out of my Life & Body

I wouldn`t kiss you...

Also I think strong baking soda solutions can harm the teeth, I`d check that dilution factor very well if I was you.

Why dont you make some more complete toothpaste yourself? You can use diluted baking soda, also different plant extracts and essential oils that will taste and clean better when used together.

There are several natural toothpaste alternatives in the market worldwide, you could try a couple of different ones and then look at ingredients and try to make your own version.

that is great advise

I should really look more into the RATIOS I am using

and I like the idea of other plant extracts, especially for flavour

love the flavour of Mint

and chocolate mmmmmmm

and Coffee now

I've been making my own toothpaste for some time now, I'll never go to back to store bought.

I use approximately 50/50 baking soda and good quality sea salt (I use real salt).

Then I mix those with a more or less equal amount of coconut oil to form a fairly solid paste.

then to give it a smoother more manageable texture and better flavor, I add a few drops each of various essential oils (I've been using tea tree, clove, peppermint, and thyme)

Also instead of store bought mouthwash, 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and water with a dash of peppermint oil for flavor/smell.

I switched to baking soda years ago.
Not one cavity since then, not one canker sore.
I have a glass dish of baking soda with a petri dish lid over top, I just wet the toothbrush, shake out the extra water, and tap in the baking soda.
After like half a pound got me through the first year I bought a 5lb box for $5. I'm set

Added bonus: your drain wont get clogged with a revolting cement of hair and old used toothpaste.

One caution: with any brushing, toothpaste or not, after consuming acidic food and rinsing your mouth out wait at least 30 min before brushing unless you want cavities.

Good call on stopping the fluoridated tooth paste. Remember too that fluoride can come from many other sources including tap water, canned and processed foods and drinks, and possibly teflon-coated cookware. Sources of Fluoride - Fluoride Action Network

Have you looked into adding xylitol to your toothpaste as a natural tooth-strengthening alternative to fluoride?

You guys realize that fluorosis only affects developing teeth (i.e. in children), right? After teeth are developed and erupted into the mouth, fluoride is beneficial to your enamel because the fluorapatite it creates on the surfaces of teeth resists acid corrosion more than the natural composition of enamel.

I hope everyone is still going to the dentist to get regular checkups.

Flouride in our water for teeth... is the only DRUG i have ever heard of being dosed out in no limit. You can dose yourself all day with flouride.. for your teeth lol. How long does that stuff sit in your mouth? Drinking water with drugs in it in hopes that it will slosh by your teeth and coat them is just absurd. Its a scam to get people dumbed down by flouride.

The problem is that fluoride is toxic and can come from multiple sources as I listed above.

I say why put any unncessary chemicals in your body if you don't have to? Especially when theyre unwillingly force fed to us under a guise that 'they're good for you' because some idiot is smiling on their advertising. Please! Forget that haha. Fluoride that you see in conventional tooth paste and tap water is a byproduct of industrial manufacturing methods. Anyone who just sits by and says 'well that should be fine to put in my body' is a dunce. But, the problem is a lot dont know, and they dont care to.

I've recently read up on oil pulling using Coconut Oil as kind of a mouth wash. Ive been using Fluoride free tooth paste for some time now. The real secret though to keeping a healthy mouth, in my experience, is just eating right. Garbage in garbage out. I have no weird after tastes, no bad breath whatsoever. And I remember being like 15 and 16 and having soda and that hyper-sweet gross mouth taste and terrible breath just lingers.

Here's a link to Oil Pulling if anyone wishes to give it a go.

But why is it that I was given the small fluoride pills when I was a small child? If fluorosis only affects developing teeth that would not be a wise thing to do, yet it was in a national health service program.
I don't feel it harmed me. I've had no serious illness as of yet and feel healthy overall.

I don't mind a little fluoride in my toothpaste. I use all kinds of toothpaste and still am alive and kicking. My grandma reached the age of 90 and has been brushing with fluoride toothpaste. It's already there from the late 19th century so I think she used it a great part of her life. I think people have a higher change to die early from stress induced by worrying about brushing with fluoride toothpaste.

I tend to agree with arcologist that the fluoride fear mongering is conspiracy talk. It's the copy behavior of people who don't know the facts and the story gets more distorted with every copy.

The second meta-analysis is inconclusive at best. Many of the studies report significant error margins on the IQ test results (i.e. 10 to 15 points), with significant overlap that call into question the statistical significance.

Choi et al. said:
"The estimated decrease in average IQ associated with fluoride exposure based on our analysis may seem small and may be within the measurement error of IQ testing. However, as research on other neurotoxicants has shown, a shift to the left of IQ distributions in a population will have substantial impacts, especially among those in the high and low ranges of the IQ distribution (Bellinger 2007)."

There may be some small inverse relationship between high fluoride exposure and IQ results (which itself is a flawed metric), but I'm not convinced that it isn't the result of confirmation bias on the part of the original studies, or due to some other additional factors that were not controlled for.

If you lived in a location with only well water (as I did), you may have been given them because it was not provided in your drinking water. If I remember correctly, this was a purely topical treatment (i.e. you weren't supposed to swallow them), and thus wouldn't have significant effect on tooth development anyway.

I know what you're getting at. But now they make these tooth soaps, including Tooth Soap®. It leaves your teeth with a smooth, silken feeling. And if you try using tooth paste after using this stuff, your teeth will feel unpleasantly abrasive. And that's what these soaps advertise: that tooth paste is too harsh for the enamel of our teeth. Tooth soaps are absolutely the way to go (and you can make them yourself.)

I'm not saying a single study proves anything, in fact, I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, yet I do feel it's important to view this information as a whole, and to be aware of all the facts. Personally, I would rather err on the side of caution (especially with this issue since it's something that potentially affects our health).
