Ideas for new group projects

Hey guys. So here lately I’ve noticed there hasn’t been a lot of new post in the collaborative projects section. So I wanted to create a post for people to share some ideas for some things we could collectively do as a group that could benefit the nexus and the rest of the psychedelic community. All ideas are welcome on this post so don’t be shy ☺️. Let’s hear some ideas 💡
 
I would like to make a collection of a few different topics. I want to gather all this to collect and sort through to pass on to The Nexian publishers, the “newspapper” I’m hoping to revive and revamp. I plan to compile trip reports, pictures of nexians plants, artwork and literature of nexians, articles related to psychedelics, tips/techniques on meditation and breathing exercises, interesting info about nexians home countries, tips and updates on chemistry or possibly a q&a section for the chemists.

I guess this would be a good place to feel out people’s enthusiasm about this idea. I will put out threads of what I’m asking for more specifically per topic.

I know everyone has a lot of great content to contribute. I would like to turn it into a badass newsletter to read once in a while.

I applaud the effort and will keep an eye on this thread. We got this far with the Nexus exactly because people like you guys decide to put time and effort into some collective project which makes us grow. No need to be an expert or a mod to make the community a better place :)
 
Here are some things that come to mind:

Salvia:

- Cold acetone extract cleanup, try to remove chlorophyll with ion exchange resin instead of solvent washes.
- HPBCD complexation for oral administration. Combine with carboxilic esterase enzyme blocking plants (e.g. thymeleaved sandwort).
- More results for enhanced tinctures (non-HPBCD).
- Extraction results from new plants (e.g. glutinosa).

Mushrooms:

- HPBCD Vaccum dry of cleaned up extract (e.g. cation resin flushed with volatile salt or acetone protein crash) for complexation that allows having a stable concentrated powder. Use this for extraction of liquid cultures or spawn.
- Figure out what possible new compound our melashrooms made.
- Feed mushrooms mexamine and see what results.

Cacti:

- Verify mescaline boost when cuttings are stored in the dark.
- Mescaline yield analysis for grafted vs planted cacti.
- How to trigger flowering.

Harmalas:

- Cation resin tests for new extraction.
- Harmalol extraction, may need to form a complex with HPBCD for stability. Some psilocin techniques may apply. Would sprouting the seeds boost Harmalol while leaving Harmine/Harmaline unchanged in the seed shell?
- Reduction check during long acidic boils.

Administration:

- Form HPBCD complexes test nebulizer method. Consider eye drops with safety in mind (avoid blood brain barrier).

DMT:

- STB: test sulfites as a path to break down lignin in bark in low alkaline (more user friendly) conditions.
- Gibbs triangle for fumaric acid, acetone, and naphta.

Analysis

- Homeade Raman spectrometer with red or infrared laser to avoid the fluorescence we saw when we built a green laser based Raman spectrometer here at the Nexus. Our Raman could identify raman acetone peaks, but DMT was too fluorescent.

Other

- Quality videos of established procedures (endlessness). Not research per se, but a great project for accurate and easy to follow harm reduction steps.


Thing is, there are already threads for most of these. This is just a list of my favorites. There is a lot of stuff to look into for anyone who wants to jump in. I'll can add links if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the support endlessness 🙂 an idea I had was possibly creating a section dedicated to psychedelic studies. Organizations like maps, Beckley, and even John Hopkins are becoming more and more interested in psychedelics everyday. The nexus has a broad demographic. We have members all over the world that come from all kinds of backgrounds which is excellent for statistical studies. I receive emails constantly from different organizations looking for volunteers for surveys and clinical trials. With our membership being so broad we could direct volunteers to these studies regardless of what country the studies are being done in. This section could also provide links to surveys like the one that recently floated through the nexus not to long ago. The way I look at it is we have the membership numbers and if we direct our numbers in the right direction we could greatly benefit the psychedelic community. Not sure if this idea would be as easy as it sounds but if it could work that would be pretty awesome 👏... anyways... I appreciate the ideas posted so far and hopefully we continue to get more. Like I said before. Don’t be shy guys, all ideas welcome. :thumb_up: :thumb_up:
 
One more:

Checking if mannitol can potentiate mushrooms (via helping drugs pass the blood brain barrier). May be useful to combine with citrus fruits which may help mannitol absorption in the intestines.

Mannitol is an alcohol sugar. So we are talking about making a sweet citrus drink to take with shrooms.
