Immense Interest in DMT for years, but I have an awful amount of apprehension in experiencing it

Migrated topic.
^^I think that "bad" trips(I call them difficult trips) are the ones where you can learn the most...if you arent having difficult trips ever you are not being challenged...challenge leads to growth.

Cannabis also gives me bad anxiety while on mushrooms.

cant find the thumbs up smiley, so,
Know your mind, Know your body, know your substance, know your source. The only person that can really help one through something, is themselves. The rest are all just catalysts.

Imagine the most alien feeling you've ever encountered jumping on top of you like a rabid monkey before you've even exhaled your first hit...

My friend never had this feeling. It's always a tingling sensation in the head and then the patterns start creeping up. Yes, it feels different than ordinary reality...but "the most alien feeling"?

I ALWAYS get the "OH...OH... This is so beyond the most alien sensation I can imagine X 10,000, so far beyond and inverted of any known reality I could ever have dreamed of..." When it hits me.

I am intellectually fascinated about DMT, but trying it for myself is completely different.

I'm cool with if it ultimately remains an "academic fascination," if you do one full blown experience... and then are like, "Hmmmm..." for a really long time after that. That's me also.

It's funny SWIM and you seem very similar, Just got done posting SWIM's 1st exp, you should check it out, SWIM doesn't know how to give you the link, but it is titled W O W.
SWIM has had his/her share of LSD, some mushrooms etc. DMT is unlike any of them.
I have always wrestled with those thoughts in every single trip I have had.
However..Since SWIM has came back from hyperspace, he told me that he now realizes WHY SWIM thinks those weak little thoughts.
SWIM loves his life, and is scared to die, guess SWIM is human after all :)
If you think about it, fear is associated with the physical self. The urge and pull to disconnect yourself, your consciousness from your body, is so great, I imagine it would be more difficult to hold on than to "let go". But, absolutely no offense meant here, What ever you imagine you see yourself going through, you are wrong.
You are catching a glimpse of how utterly tiny we all are, of how insignificant of a blip the existence of your soul trapped in flesh is.
In the part of hyperspace SWIM has went, nothing can really describe it in words on a screen, or spoken from ones lips.
I mean, different dimensions, that is barely conceivable to us now. I am in no way a highly educated man but that brings up some questions in ones head doesn't it??
different physics? different "matter"??, A different way to perceive light and sound? That is saying that "light" and "sound" stays true to the other side too.
SWIM has only caught a glimpse of one corner of hyperspace, it wasn't as inspiring or as interesting as the ones chronicled in the Spirit Molecule, but it was the most unique, "different" experiences of SWIM's life.
And mostly, Strassman says it best in that little book of yours too.....
SET + SETTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and also, to my understanding, the effects from smoking free base DMT, is shorter than those of the IV administered "patients" in the book. Either way, by the time you are (hopefully NOT) having a difficult experience, it is relatively VERY short compared to other hallucinogens, you don't have the time to totally freak out like the hours that seem to last FOREVER with shrooms and cid.
Your body metabolizes the Spice very rapidly and efficiently.
