improving lightbulb vape?

Hey Ya'll,

Swim has been hanging around for days reading posts and plodding through many of the extraction teks and other helpful bits of information here.

When it comes to dose delivery, he'd pretty much settled on constructing a Machine but as the portal into hyperspace is drawing nearer, he's hard pressed for a means to get a nice sized hole in the bottom of a tobasco bottle, or any glass bottle. Just, ...ain't happening. Before learning of the machine he'd constructed a standard lightbulb vaporizor.

Ok, ok here's the question. Obviously the lightbulb is an inefficient way to go. Just wondering if anyone's imported the steel wool/brillo trick of loading the spice for the Machine INTO the lightbulb? IE instead of dropping spice directly into the bulb, would loading up a wad of steel wool and dropping that into the bulb bypass the efficiency problems of the bulb method.


SWIM may just try this if he still can't get hold of a drill when that hyperspace portal draws near...

Yeah, I've done that. I had an oval shaped bulb and used that (cooler vapor), but it was far far away from the results I had with the machine. With the lightbulb, I needed about 15 mg to achieve what can be done with the machine with 5mg. Air escaping = vapor escaping. Not that great.

I'd advise you to take the time (maybe 1hr) to build a machine. It'll save you from a lot of frustration (well, it did for me). Proper equipment & technique goes a loooong way.

If you get a bottle with a small dent in the bottom,then you can make a hole by tapping it with a screwdriver,it's very easy to do. Try looking for a Courvoisier bottle,they're ideal.

Thanks for the tips. SWIM's discarded the idea of trying to improve the lightbulb design and just improvised the nearest approximation of a Machine possible without a drill bit capable of penetrating glass. While trying tap through with an awl the whole bottom broke off. But the neck was good so a lot of electrical tape was used to fuse the broken glass part to the cut off top of a plastic bottle which forms a fairly intuitive mouthpiece.

I've made 3 out of single serve henny bottle u just use a vary small screw driver and tap out a hole. Haven't broke one yet it almost need to b a henny bottle unless u wanna use a drill

Was gonna reply, but that is EXACTLY what I was gonna say.
My roomie even went as far as heating a bulb FULL of steel wool in a burning pool of naptha. Appearently it worked for him once but when he showed it to me it misfired.

Hey Q I have just now and I must say, I covet that machine-bubbler! It seems a rather serious bit of equipment to have hanging around one's home so I'm going to have to file the idea away until I'm finally on my own again, housing wise. It seems to be maximally suited to both efficiency and comfort. Of course after a few weeks of reading @The Nexus I'm also quite piqued over the GVG idea as well but that one too will have to wait for another time and place.

I have never used the machine, so maybe there is a big difference in its effectiveness, but simply putting some steel scrubber pad into the bowl of a standard pipe works amazingly for me. Also, you can buy one of these types of pipes at just about any head shop, usually for less than five dollars. Much easier than trying to drill through glass imo.

I know there are some good suggestions here already but I'll throw in my 2 pennies too. If it were me I'd discard the ghetto lightbulb pipe all together and either make a vape piece for an existing bong or buy a pipe for use with other substances. You all know the pipe I'm talking about, it's the one with a long stem and a bulb with a hole in one side of the bulb. Pack some copper choreboy pad in that thing and blast off. The thought of heating a delicate and super thin bulb of glass then inhaling out of it just scares the crap out of me to be honest. Nothing makes me want to blast off more than the thought of burning hot broken shards of glass flying into my throat.. lol.. Not trying to be negative, I'm just looking out for others and I'd personally like to see people stop suggesting the lightbulb as an acceptable method of hyperspace travel.
