inhale through your nose (note: not snorting...)

Hello all,
Im a non smoker and have tried DMT several times. I am having great difficulty inhaling, in that i inhale into my mouth but cannot inhale into my lungs for some reason. Friends who regularly smoke tobacco say it comes naturally to them but alas no joy for me.

Is it possible to use a glass pipe and inhale the vape/smoke through the nose instead to get straight to the lungs - or will it sting etc?

Sometimes I french inhale changa while smoking it more or less out of habit (daily pot smoker). I don't think it stings/burns any more than tobacco or weed smoke, though, I guess it depends what you're smoking dimitri with. If it's crystal i can imagine it would hurt moreso than if it were infused onto some plant material.

As for inhaling from mouth to lungs, I suppose you could try smoking some common smooth herbs on their own such as mullein, mugwort, peppermint etc... Find one that works for you and infuse some spice onto that :thumb_up:

As a non smoker (Only bong) use a vaporizer is my best advice. Its your throat and mouth. We cant feel what you feel while smoking.

It will get easier the more you do it.

I couldn't imagine that inhaling through your nose would be any less "harsh" that with your mouth. Your nose has more sensitive membranes inside than your throat does.

many thanks - it's less the harshness thats an issue, but the fact that I cannot inhale it properly - i.e. it stays (mainly) in my mouth/throat - and doesnt go down to my lungs.

Someone told me if you inhale through your nose then it goes to your brain = more potent?

Don't inhale through your nose

First practice on inhaling air directly to your lungs, breath slowly and deeply and imagine the air coming in directly filling your lungs, imagine your lungs expanding and filling with air and they will, hold your breath then release, apply that to your smoking..

Then practice with some herb like mint, i'm a non smoker too the key for me is loooooong sloooooow inhaling, also if you are using a pipe or joint then put it lightly on your lips and inhale air at the same time to cool the smoke..

First exhale and inhale fully a few times, making you sufficiently saturated with oxygen, so that the natural need to breathe does not interfere too much with your trying to inhale smoke or vapors.

Exhale.

Fill your mouth with the smoke or vapor as much as possible.

Inhale strongly through your mouth, sucking the contents of your mouth into the depth of your lungs.

Hold in your breath for at least 30 seconds. Dmt needs some time to migrate into the blood stream. Tobacco and weed need less holding time.

Additionally;

Try filling your mouth with only a bit and pull that deep into your lungs. Gradually increase the amount as you become more proficient.

Some vaporizing equipment, especially if ill-handled, gives off very harsh vapors. The common glass bulb / crack pipe device needs very skillful handling or else you burn the dmt and the vapors turn into an acrid plastic shit sort of smell and feel. Properly operated apparatuses like the vapor genie or a correctly constructed "the machine" (search the forum) will give off almost tasteless vapors that can even be inhaled as if breathing in regular air.

If all attempts at smoking fail you, consider finding some caapi vine or syrian rue seed material and brewing an ayahuasca potion.

The issue I have is that once its in my mouth I find it difficult to 'pull down' into lungs.

I brought an e-cig yesterday to practice.

Im using a glass pipe - as you say, first time I used it, I burnt it and tasted like hell on earth.
2nd time was better (kept the flame away and slower), but still the crystals soon turned to liquid - initially yellow then black-ish. Is that normal?

Really, get yourself a better vaporizing device. The thing you are using now is ruining it for you. Learning to inhale vapors and at the same time learning to operate a bulb pipe is just too many complications at once.

Melting is normal, melting occurs before vaporization. But discoloration - even if only to yellow - is a sure sign of degradation and burning. Only use a bulb pipe if you are able to vape dmt from it without creating black crud.

Search the forum for an explanation of the difference between conduction heating and convection heating.

You refer to "HOT RAILS " ? It is interesting vaping method. Could be railed from straw in mouth or nostril.
A bit like dragon chasing but they (pipes designers) made glass set for BHO or other cannabis concetrates vaping.
Now you don't have to smoke, you can also seek other ROA : Oral, nasal ...

Hi, not, not referring to hot railing in the sense of using blow torch lighters etc - instead just vaping inhaling via nose.

This deep breathing is marked by expansion of the abdomen rather than the chest when breathing.

The key is to practice noticing how it feels when you breathe and when you're simply breathing into your throat rather than your lungs. It should feel almost like taking a crap when you exhale and feel a little like holding in a huge sh*t when you inhale to a certain degree, since you use some of the same muscles

Ive tried 2 methods, glass pipe (used this first and burnt it by holding the flame too close - amateur error - resulting in breathing in what can only be described and the burnt tyres of cheap Ford.

The other method I tried was a bong - home made - using foil at the bottom of a 1 litre plastic bottle. I found it harder to breathe it in (vs the pipe) as it felt unnatural to inhale via the cap of the bottle. I also didnt really see the 'smoke' in the bottle. Not sure if I vaped it properly - i saw slight mist, but not milky smoke.
On both methods i used just freebase.

On all occasions, I end up with some black tar/residue at the end of the session - which i guess means Im still accidentally burning it right? Thanks,
