IPA menstruum

Migrated topic.

so, my 10x caapi IPA extract has been sitting for over two weeks and I am getting ready to evaporate onto fresh leaf and infuse with jimjam. my question is: do I need to let the IPA menstruum completely evaporate and infuse the leaf before I infuse with spice, or is the spice soluble in the menstruum (IPA), and I can do both infusions simultaneously? also, I have a lab grade magnetic stirrer/heater; would it be a good idea to use this to hasten the evaporation?

Yup, you can do both infusions simultaneously. And for the best distribution of actives, the less disturbance the better. Stick it on a shelf and leave it alone until it's dry.
Then enjoy. :)

swim did exactly what you are describing earlier. It was his first attempt at changa, so he can't really say much about how it pans out, but it didn't occur to him that any problems would arise taking this route. He simply got tired of waiting for the caapi infused IPA to evaporate and just decided to add some IPA/spice solution to the whole mixture. He sees no reason why this should fail.

muchas gracias! i will let you all know how it works out for me. the vaporgenie should be here saturday, and i'm tentatively scheduling blastoff for sunday morning!

It seems that with menstruum drying there will be not enough volume to cover your stir bar. Besides lots of menstruum will stick to the bar and there will be substantial quantity of actives stuck to it.

IME a fan and a hot plate on low works great with IPA. Never prepared caapi menstruums but my changa is dry in 2 hrs or less.
