Is DMT becoming less effective for me?

Migrated topic.

I have had a strange relationship with spice in some ways. When I first started smoking it 15mg was intense and I would only need 25-30mg for a breakthrough. Since then I took a break of about 6 weeks because I was very busy with school. Now I have recently started experimenting with it and I have been running into problems.

Now 20-25mg does almost nothing to me. I get the familiar body vibrations and the flanging of my vision but almost NO closed eye visuals at all.
This is the same spice I was smoking in the beginning. Now I have a few ideas as to what may be the culprit here. Perhaps my tolerance just randomly went up? This wouldn't make sense really but I have heard of people having spice just stop working for them after doing it alot. But I did not overindulge so it is kinda strange.

The other possibility is that my spice has been degraded. I have stored it at room temperature in small plastic containers in a shoebox in my room. It has been there for 3.5 months or so. In the past few weeks since spring has come I have realized that this room can get very hot during the day because it has many windows and the sun shines directly in. Is it possible that It has degraded THAT much though?

I know it isn't my smoking technique because I have been using the vapor genie and after holding it in for 10 seconds I exhale a ton of smoke so I'm fairly sure I am getting most of the spice.

This is very frustrating for me. Perhaps I will just have to smoke larger doses from now on or use MAOIs like THH. Any idea what the problem is?

Yes 3 ideas.

1) take some more time away from all tryptamines. They are all cross-tolerant (not sure if you use any others, but just an FYI). Many find that at some point they have to take a few months away from Spice to get its full effects

2) try using piracetam. I found that it helps to increase the effects of damn near everything.

3) try smoking using a different method. Try the leaf bed method using your normal amount + 5-10mgs.

Try holding it in longer. SWIM finds his best experiences happen when NO vapor is exhaled.

I just wanna make clear that I have only done spice a total of ~20 times at most. I seriously doubt this is due to excessive use. I have not tripped on other tryptamines very often. I took LSD about 2 weeks ago and 2c-e another month before that but I have not been tripping very often as I have been pretty busy with school.

SO you think I should hold in for longer than 10 sec? I will try 20 seconds next time. The reason why I don't hold in long is because tolerance forms very quickly so you wanna smoke it quickly.

I will try the leaf bed method as well to make sure none is dripping through. I don't think that is the case though because I have used the same smoking technique and it used to work fine.

You are right 20 times shouldn't burn you out at all.

If you were taking mushrooms every weekend or something that might do it, but the chems you are talking about and the frequency you are talking about leads me to believe that is not at all the issue.

Don't worry about the tolerance thing you've got a good minute or two before tolerance hits. As long as you are not babying the pipe and taking little hits over a couple of minutes you shouldn't have an issue with fast building tolerance.
Your first hit should be the biggest and held as long as possible. The remaining hits should be smaller but held in as long as possible. My most vivid spice experiences were usually after a massive first hit held until (as another member pointed out) NO smoke is exhaled.

Maybe it is possible you are getting a bit lax in your smoking method, I dunno.

If all else fails - do another extraction. Definitely don't 'give up' on the spice (that is - if you don't want to!) if all other methods suggested don't work. Degraded spice could certainly be the culprit. Have you loaded up a strong dose and tried that yet? Say around 50mg?

Yea I will definitely do another extraction just to rule out degradation. I definitely do not plan on giving up. In fact I have just begun which is why I am so disappointed that this is happening. I have not yet tried a larger dose. I am gonna try 30mg or so and will hold the first hit in as long as possible. I never thought it necessary to ghost the hit so that could be the problem. Worse comes to worse I will just use an MAOI which should definitely make it more dose effective.

Thanks for all the helpful responses guys. I'll report back soon.

SWIM doesn't find ghosting necessary in his experience, though it can guarantee greatness .

He would try loading up 40mg if he were you! Good luck!

From what you've stated, I would have to agree that tolerance doesn't seem like it's the issue (although the biochemistry of DMT is extremely complex and not fully understood, so it's still a possibility). As others have stated though, I think degradation or some change in your vap technique has changed.

Others can correct me if I'm wrong here, but this doesn't sound like the best storage technique. My understanding of the best way to store it is in a sealed container, inside of another sealed container with some desiccant, like dry-right or silica gel, and kept in a dark freezer. This should keep the spice preserved for months or longer.

I had this problem a while back, but it was clearly due to overuse / abuse. acolon_5 turned me on to Piracetam and it worked wonders for me. Since then I've been MUCH more responsible with my indulgence. 😉

Yea I had it in a fairly airtight container, inside a plastic bag, in a shoe box. I really should store it in the freezer but I figured it would be okay for a while like that. It has only been a few months and only recently has it begun to get hot out so I would be surprised id it had degraded that much. Is DMT really THAT unstable? Either way I will store everything in the freezer in jars within jars from now on.

Another VERY powerful brain tonic (and heart tonic) is:

(taken 2-3 times per day)

1) 4-5 grams of acetyl-l-carnitine
2) 200 mg R-alpha-lipoic acid
3) 100-200 mg CoQ10 (or, even better, idebenone, if you can get it).

The above are higher doses than you will usually see, but there are NO NEGATIVES to high doses of these things (they might keep you up at night, a bit, until you acclimate). The effect for me is a blatant increase in mental clarity and energy. Of course, anyone under physiological stress should take a good multivitamin (no cheap grocery store stuff).

Hey guys. I am quite happy to report that this was all due to a flawed smoking technique. I was just rocked by 20mg so I am definitely still quite sensitive to the spice.

Holding it in for an extra 5-10 seconds makes a HUGE difference. :d

Hahaaa! Great to hear D-9-T! Nothing more heart breaking than thinking you've lost the gift of spice! I know! I've been there too! It's amazing how we can get sloppy in our technique, without even realizing it eh?
Regardless, be respectful in your usage and store your spice well! It certainly can do NO harm!

Yeah, that's a really good point as well. I've personally always held it as long as possible... 30+ sec, and then whammered another hit. I guess I've always realized the dose / dose / dose tolerance that builds, but never really the hit / hit / hit tolerance... Maybe that's just cuz I have an awesome pipe and get a full breakthrough does in one hit when I do it right. Muli-hit doses often work quite well for me as well.
I think I might actually post a poll on how quickly "onset-tolerance" degrades intensity for folks.

Hmm I've never experienced any form of tolerance, maybe after the 10th cone of the night, but it's probably due to the awesomeness of Changa.

Ahhhh Yesssss! The magical mystery Changa... Probably due to it's maoi prperties, and / or just down right easy smoke technique. Gonna have to blend some of that up for me soon! 8) Are you just bragging SD? :d 😉

No, it is not that unstable. You will get some conversion of some of your spice to DMT N-Oxide, but that is also psychoactive at similar doses.

Almost all of the posts where people are having trouble getting effects from their Spice are because of improper smoking techniques.

Heat managment and the amount taken the first hit are the most important two factors in getting the most out of your spice experiences.
