Is DMT evidence for an afterlife?

Don't forget that Terence allegedly gave DMT to a Tibetan Lama, who responded: 'This is the lesser lights, the lesser lights of the Bardo. You cannot go further into the Bardo and return.' For anyone who has read the Tibetan Book of the Dead, it would be a fascinating fact.

I feel death would be very similar to your most intense DMT journey. When we leave the body behind, all the filters and safety mechanisms are out of the picture. The intensity could go to infinity and even consume you whole. Tibetans say that if you recognize yourself in these displays, liberation is possible. How many have recognized themselves in DMT visions or even experienced a lucid dream state?

I subscribe to the idea that we are in the eternal now. Nothing goes from here to anywhere. Even death is just part of the show, just as sleep is part of life. There's no need to stress; you are endless. Although, I hope to find myself in a better environment for internal practice next time around. Alternatively, a reincarnation as a bonobo would allow me to f*ck my way to freedom 😂
Right, I think that's accurate.

To put my opinion out there, I believe we fall into a clear light, nondual void upon death, similar to what's described in the Book of the Dead, near-death experiences, and 5-MeO-DMT trips. Assuming the "individual" is not able to remain unattached enough to stay there, they drop out of that condition into subtle planes of existence and are carried by their remaining psychic impressions (karma). To my understanding, this part would be very DMT-like, and it may even involve the exact same realms. From there, the likely destination is human rebirth, but it sounds like other destinations are possible as well, depending on the amount of purification reached in the recent life.

Obviously, I don't know much of this to be true as a fact, and I bet the reality of it is too transcendent to be contained by these simple concepts. But I do feel confident that 5-MeO-DMT and DMT give us genuine access to these levels of existence.

No it's not 🤣
See how Indians drive on mountain passes. They believe in reincarnation. Nothing is permanent here. This life is always in flux.
Endless just means that there is no end. Who said that there is a beginning? We just are.
Haha, I wish I could believe there was an end, or a beginning, it'll make things much simpler.

That's what I do in my medicine work most of the time: purifying my karma. Like I said, I'm fine to be born a bonobo. Otherwise, give me a nice spot to be a monk 😂

Seriously, psychedelics feel more like preliminary practices. At some point, your purity and sensitivity are enough to do it by yourself. However, it's most likely close to impossible in current times. This stage is mostly about purification. We'll all meet again; just chill and do your best.

Exactly, psychedelics seem unparalleled when it comes to tools that help you become familiar. They're able to take you so deep, I could even see them remaining as effective helpers at advanced levels into someone's practice.

It could be. I'm far from advanced level to comment, but why not?

I feel the way we use this tool is quite far from its full potential. The Ayahuasca tradition is thousands of years old, and they reached places for sure. There are stories of people who could walk on water and appear at two places at the same time. It's closer to the stories about the mahasiddhas of ancient India.

So, given the right know-how, you can go very far just with a plant medicine.

Same, I'm closer to a beginner than I am to advanced, even after all this time. If I were to claim any kind of skill, I guess it'd be that I think I've deciphered the road ahead from my own minor experiences along with others' reports, even if I haven't fully walked it yet myself.

This is super interesting. I didn't realize there were these types of reports in the Ayahuasca tradition. As someone who's fully bought into the reality of humans' unacknowledged spiritual energy (by whatever name), I believe these kinds of "miraculous" displays are possible in the literal sense.

I already gave Ayahuasca a ridiculous amount of reverence, but if it can carry a practitioner to this sort of development, then it's even more amazing than I thought.

I think they're called muraya, or something similar, in Shipibo-Conibo traditions. I heard the story a number of times on The Universe Within Podcast.

They disappeared like 100 years ago because no one diets in the jungle for decades anymore. There are stark similarities with the Tibetan yogic tradition: decades-long solitary retreats, with high-level practice. I remember the story when some Tibetans gifted Pablo Amaringo a tunic. How did they even know about him?
A high level of practice is a real possibility with Ayahuasca. I think other plants go very deep too. Nothing I can prove beyond some hearsay, though.

I get that but still…where is the past? Where did it go? Where is the future?

Do we have all the reference points?

I think in some way every single moment of your life is forever. I think the past is forever happening in the past and the future is forever happening in the future. We think these things appear and disappear, because from our vantage they do.

I’m not trying to entirely make sense.
Well put.
Time is a flat-circle (layman cit.)

I would say time is a product of memory. A day of perfect amnesia is time travel. Eternity in the void has nothing to remember about it, so it is over as soon as it starts. Which leaves us....here.

This place is surely a labour of love by awareness itself. Consciousness in any of the outrageous DMT spaces has to be unimaginably strenuous after forever.

This place has a tree. It looks like a tree to me. It looks like a tree to you. Tomorrow we can return and it still will most likely look like a tree.

We have peace and stillness available in abundance here. We cannot, by default, feel the utter insanity of every vibrating atom.

Hmmmmnhmmmmnhmmmmhnmmmmnhmhn.....for eternity.

The truth is that every milligram of matter in our universe is on the brink of violent explosion at any moment. But we can sit on the grass and breath slowly as we watch a leaf gently navigate air molecules on its journey to the ground.

The leaf is made of madness. The air molecules too. But somehow this creation gives the appearance of serenity.

The most magnificent programming code ever devised. The one we use to see the leaf and not the atoms.

If there is an afterlife, this may be it right now. Seems more likely to me that DMT shows us what the actual reality looks like.

This existence here, deciphered so cleanly by that code programmed in our minds, is surely the greatest achievement awareness has ever created.

Six dimensional geometry seems cool to us because it's not normal. But after an endless battle to liven up the void we land here. Where a stream trickles past with a cheerful sound and stays a stream for as long as we look at it.

If I was infinite awareness, I'm pretty sure I would be more impressed with managing to form this 3D realm than any of the hectic madness that we get a glimpse of while high.

Some consider demonstrating at least one siddha (or is it siddhi) the minimum for proof of attainment. I want ! :p

I personally believe DMT is a portal of some sort into the spirit world. I don't know if the DMT realm is where we go when we die but I do think that DMT helps the physical and spiritual body release upon death.

I love this topic, so please excuse multiple and long posts.

If we were an infinite awareness in an infinite void. Consciousness is fundamental, matter emergent. We forget the void after an eternity of experiencing it because there is nothing to remember. We were never there and are still there forever.

After the instant eternity of nothing, we start to play. DMT to us is an open door into what can be created in non physical existence. When we, the infinite awareness, start to play it seems obvious we would do everything from a DMT trip as a first step out of the void.

Manifesting infinite experiences from the non physical frame, without limits. There will be peace and love. But the madness is always waiting for a turn. After enough felt experience, enough memory, enough generated time, a new idea.

Playing with matter on the other hand? What a cool plan!

Working on a scale now, self imposed laws that mean we can construct prisons for the madness, a container for the chaos, compressed down to atomic scale. Leaving an inert piece of solid matter.

Awareness has become the giant above the madness. Uncountable chaotic particles vibrating with fanatical energy instantly transformed into a vibrant, serene lilly, floating down some slightly less contained atoms.

So the love flowed back, bright light feeding the flower. Must. Keep. Flower. Alive.

So much to learn about physical existence now. Everything keeps exploding. Crashing into itself. A new chaos.

That stillness, the flower on water, will be worth the effort. It will also die. Something will definitely smash into it when we are not paying attention.

There will be an end! Another great safeguard against the madness of the fractal infinite web of non physical existence.

Impermanence and some peace achieved through physical existence. Glorious uncertainty. A view point high above the atomic lunacy that builds it all.
