Is it possible to recall our past with DMT?

Hello, I am new to this forum and this is my very first post.
Recently, I came to know about DMT and have been quickly glancing through the information about this online, and found this website. I have never tried this and have no idea how I am going to do it either as of now.
I am curious to know this. Is it possible to recall our past with DMT - whether it be this lifetime or any past lifetime? And can one be in control of his thoughts during the experience with DMT?

Recalling the past is a nuanced subject. If you mean that the past experiences will be visually manifest, that seems unlikely to me. Activating long term memories may be more likely. There are times when infantile emotions/phenomena are perceived. The nostalgic feeling could crop some memories up.

Past lives is such an odd subject. Whenever people say they were viewing a past life, my first question would always be, "how could you tell?" Just because you perceive a scene in the life of someone else, who is to say that was one of your past lives? It just seems like a big assumption to make. Unless some entities told you they were about to show you your past lives (which I find to be unlikely), their words should still be taken with a grain of salt.

Having said that, there are definitely elements from the past like ancient cultural imagery such as that of the Egyptians, Hindus, Aztecs, etc...There are a plethora of theories regarding this (none of which I'm sure might be true), and one of them could have to do with past lives (i.e. the reason why Egyptian imagery may be prevalent for some could have to do with a past life in ancient Egypt). It would be a real trick to prove any of this one way or the other, but you never know when magic little hints will drop into your life.

In terms of being in control of one's thoughts, I would say the answer is "usually yes." DMT tends to preserve your thoughts and personality more accurately than other substances such as psilocybin, which has a higher tendency for assuming control of your thoughts and invoking confusion. For the most part, "you are still you"...you just seem to be somewhere else entirely.

Personally, I have found psilocybine to be an effective drug for reaching back to earlier memories, based on both my own experiences, and testimonies of others.

A typical experience of this kind would be re-living a certain mindset, train of thought and visuals from early childhood. It's not a common occurrence in mushroom trips by any means, but it does seem to happen time to time (sometimes as part of a "re-viewing of one's life").

Even so, I doubt that any psychedelic is the right tool for this kind of goal-oriented exploration. The old adage being, "do not look the dragon in the eye, but let it carry you on its back." (Ie. do not try to control the trip, enjoy and learn from what you are given.) I did hear that MDMA was successfully used by psychiatrists to uncover and integrate traumatic, suppressed memories, as a way of loosening the hard grip one's mind holds over such content.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I will try to experience this. I will share with you when I do. Since I have never done anything like this before, I am not sure if I will be successful in preparing it. I will try my best.

I came across an article in MyScienceAcademy.org that explains that the tea (Ayahuasca) made of this combination (P. Viridis and Banisteriopsis caapi vine) has many health benefits - both mental and physical. It supposedly has healing benefits for conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and substance abuse. This information led me to search for this online, and landed on this website.

Ok. Sooo I have heard (and assuming you mean like revisit memories because I haven't read all the posts yet) that Yopo along with many different DMT and related chemicals can let one relive their memories. Also I have experienced something similar but quite unique along a similar subject line, every now and then I will lucid dream and remember parts of it (usually after taking a bunch of stuff and passing out). Then a few days, sometimes even months later I will find myself in the same exact situation that I had lucid "drempt" about. When in the lucid dreaming state before this I can taste, touch, see, hear, and smell things just as real as they are when I actually experience it. I can also recall the situation I "drempt" of and all the senses, and thoughts that coincide with it before it happens (I have only been able to recall the situation a few minutes before what I remember from the dream actually happens. Sometimes I can change the outcome).

@JohnIce2, I think that's called a prophetic dream, and it's pretty awesome. That's straight honest 'esper' territory. The closest I've ever gotten is a feeling of deja vu, and a nagging thought that "maybe I have had a dream just like this sometime". How many times has this happened to you? Can you give us an example?

I would say yes; especially if the "topic" given by DMT is a psychological healing;
For exemple, one quite common topic in the trips can be the relationship with the parents ; we always carry a certain amount of "projections" coming from our parents ( we live the life they want us to live ), we inherit patterns ("patterns", same root as "pater" , the father );
We can also experience perinatal matrix ("Matrix" same root as mother) , as describe by Stanislav Grof. We come back to primordial experience in the womb, or the moment of birth, because this first experience give us a "grid", a "structure" on which we build our life experience. Going bak to it an be aware of it give us the power to change it

If DMT put you on this tracks, it gonna work a lot with memories or evocation of the past (for me , the perinatal matrix doesn't look exacly like a memory of the past, it's quite more abstract )

Though, for memories in a more common sense (memories of specific moment of childhood for exemple), i find Salvia Divinorum a really good tool ( you know how smell connect to memories ? you smell something you didn't smell in years, and hop you back at this precise moment when your grandmother was doing this kind of cake? ; well, for me the smell of salvia is like a "universal smell" containing all my olfactive memories, and act as a portal to the past )

I also say yes. A recent trip allowed me to travel back and express some gratitude to some people who helped me enormously when I was much younger. Almost 40 years ago. Now this was purely the result of my trip. I hadn't thought about these people in 40 years or even recognized how much they helped me until I was tripping. I clearly felt I delivered and they received my thanks.

While you could have long term memories cropped up, if the memories weren't used, have not been formulated, or have been forgotten [literally, by the brain], there's no hope of getting them back.

I beg to differ on the matter as my partner saw her whole life, every moment lived played out in a space of a few seconds. I mean, this is all just based on one persons experience with DMT but I would answer yes, to some degree it is possible SatyamSeeker.
