Is this Ca(OH)2 safe to use ?

Hello, the topic says it all. I want to use it for STB. Solvent: xylene. Than I want to pull my DMT with FASW from xylene.

I wouldnt worry about metals, because of low concentraion and also high melting point (I vape only).. I may be wrong though

I don't know if that will cause any problems (although I don't believe it will) but I can tell you that it is advised to use sodium carbonate Na2CO2 which can be either bought, it is called washing soda, or made from baking soda by baking it the oven, there is a tek onthis in the wisdom section I think

a purer product, but you are going to use the Ca(OH)2 as a base, I think the product you chose will work fine but it does seem like they are warning you about impurities possible in their product, maybe look for some thing else.

To clear up any confusion: CaCo3 is limestone and is not what you want to use in extractions. Na2(CO3), a medium strength base, is the result of heating baking soda. You can use Ca(OH)2, which is commonly used in making food so most people assume that kind is safe to use. In that msds it says there is As at around 4 ug/g and heavy metals around 20ug/g and I have no idea if thats a cause for concern. I recommend you find some that's used for pickling or making tortillas and use that.

Thanks for clearing up my mistake ouro I edited it so that is is accurate now. I think that all of the pickling lime you find will have some kind of impurities so it is probably not a problem, however it is slightly disconcerting that it contains As, or arsenic, even though it is present in very low amounts. In case you didn't know As is very toxic and considered carcinogenic, but I can't tell you if enough will be present in the final product to be dangerous. But, like ouro said if you are worried try and find something used for food products, or guaranteed food safe.

I decided to do xylene "pull" on the Ca(OH)2 I bought, discard xylene and use new xylene on bark. In theory (disclaimer!) everything soluble in xylene should be gone after this "pull". Than I will use FASW, I think this step should (disclaimer!) remove any metals. After that, I will do multiple re-x and hope nothing harmful will be vaporized with DMT. I think CaCO3 isnt a problem here. Its base too after all.
