I usually use swan but am finding it harder to get, and as most of the lighter fluid is kept behind the counter, it's pretty hit and miss. IE, you look pretty strange when you ask if they sell it, they say yes and then you start specifying what ingredients you'd like it to consist of.

bartoline works, but it takes forever to evapourate if you need to reduce it.

Never used Bartoline but I had some bad experiences using generic "white spirits" with my first extractions. Like 3rdI says, it's impossible to evaporate, even when warmed on a radiator. The crystals I produced with it smelled bad of white spirit even after a couple of weeks of leaving on an open dish and I had to end up recrystalizing them with heptane.

I'd always do an evap test on any NPS before using it. If it doesn't evap quick and clean, no residue and no odor then it's not worth using.

Out of interest you can buy 12 packs of Ronsonol lighter fluid off the internet which I can personally verify to be good stuff but a little pricey.

If not, lay your hands on a 5 liter can of heptane which is a fraction of the price and will last you a lifetime of extractions. A bit of internet research can tell you where to find :)

Do lots of pulls of small volume. Recrystallise from small volume of a more volatile solvent to free from residue. Mini A/B also worth considering, again using a more volatile solvent.

I suppose it's a time vs. money equation to a certain extent.

I have used quite a few brands of naphtha for extractions in the UK (Bartoline low odour WS, Swan, Newport, and Ronsonol). The low odour white spirit takes a long time to evaporate, but actually holds more DMT due to it being a "heavy naphtha"... Not worth it IMO. I'd say all the other brands of "light naphtha" I mentioned are basically the same as each other and due to the faster evap rate, they are a superior solvent for extracting DMT. I have had clean evap tests on all of them and my yields were all very comparable too.

I hope that's of some help to you!
