Is this lime suitable?

Hi everyone,

the day has finally arrived after much time spent preparing and learning. SWIM has acquired all of the materials for Q21Q21's Vinegar/Lime A/B Extraction Tek, but SWIM is not so sure about his Lime. Can anyone help SWIM decide if this is a good lime to use?

On the back SWIM notices it does not mention Ca(OH)2 specifically but it is still labeled as Lime.. it also says derived from dolomite lime. Is that in line with the tek?

Eh, I'm not sure if I'd trust it or not.

The recommended lime is Pickling Lime, which is food grade.

There is no telling what might be in this stuff and I for one wouldn't want to ingest any of it.

Look for Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime.

If you look at the MSDS, it's not pure hydrated lime. You can find pickling lime much cheaper than Mrs. Wages, if you're in the US, at bulkfoods dot com.

thank you so much for the quick advice! SWIM was able to return the lime SWIM had bought and was able to get to a specialty store and find Mrs wages Pickling lime before stores closed. Exactly what SWIM needed!

SWIM currently has 2 pulls sitting in the freezer
very excited.
