Is this smokeable? Does not look very crystalline.

This is SWIM's first attempt at an extraction using the following tek:

SWIM got to the last step where the DMT-naptha solution is poured into a baking dish and frozen for 24 hours. After 24 hours, SWIM syphoned off the remaining naptha and let it dry out for a couple hours. What was left was like a hard glaze on the bottom of the pan, not really crystals. SWIM scraped it up with a razor blade and what was collected looks like this:

It's yellow, kind of sticky, and has flecks of crystal glinting in the light.

Should this be dissolved in warm naptha and re-crystallized?

It's worth a try, I don't think it would hurt. Also, before re-x maybe try an acid wash : disolve in warm naptha then pour into an acidic water solution (just add a bunch of lemon juice or vinegar to the water), stir for a few minutes, re basify the acidic water solution, stir for a moment or two and then add the original amount of naptha you used in your first pull, seperate the naptha, throw away the basic water solution. evap then freeze precip. Also leave your freezer closed for two straight days, it may seem overkill but it should be worth it I what I've read is true. Good luck

Couple clarifications/questions:

"re basify the acidic water solution" -- this now includes the DMT-naptha solution, correct? How does one re basify at this point?


"evap then freeze precip" -- how long is suggested to evap before freeze precip? SWIM understands if the solution has significantly more naptha than DMT when going into the freezer, then the freeze precip doesn't cause crystallization as well.

I'm glad you caught that , correction, after you add the naptha/dmt to the acidic water after you stir for a few minutes the dmt is in the acidi water, wait for the naptha to seperate completely from the a idc water/dmt then siphon off the naptha and throw it out. Now add your strong base to the acid water/dmt stir it up wait a couple minutes then add FRESH naptha to the mixture stir slowly for 5 minutes then let it seperate, siphon off the naptha wich now contains the dmt again. Evap until the clear naptha turns cloudy before freez precip. I've read 48 hours is the "normal" time to leave the naptha dmt in the freezer.

Post pics when you're done I'd love to see if your product changes from brown sludge to white crystals

EDIT: I've also heard it can take a day or two for your crystals to completely dry out after pulling them from the freezer... Don't know though as I haven't tried my first extraction yet.

That dmt is smokable as is. Its not crystaline, but it doesnt have to be. ive had mine turn out that way before. i think its because its high in plant oils and the oils prevent the crystalization but it still hardens up. Smoke it as is.

IF you feel like cleaning it, you can. This is how you do a re-x to clean it: Put all that into a shot glass. Safely heat up 30ml of naptha per gram of dmt you have there by putting it in a hot water bath. Mix the naptha into the dmt shot glass and continue to heat it in the hot water bath. Then you can see the plant oils being left at the bottom of the shot glass while the dmt absorbs into the naptha. Next pour off the naptha and freeze it again. Your resulting dmt will be highly crystaline and better quality.

You can do the method described in the posts above. Chop up the dmt you have currently into as fine a powder as possible. Heat up some naptha in a hot water bath. dissolve all of the dmt you have into it. Mix some vinegar into it, about 50ml per g of dmt you started with should be fine. Then seperate the naptha from the vinegar. Save the naptha, just in case something went wrong during this process. Basify your vinegar solution. Then pull again with clean naptha. You should then evaporate half or more of this naptha, and freeze it over night. I put my jars in my ice tray bin and they are finished freezing in about 4 hours.

After youve freeze precipitated, just pour off the naptha. You may need to strain it with a coffee filter because the dmt is loose floating in the naptha. If you need to do that then soak the coffee filter in clean naptha prior to straining. That will minimize loss/absorption. You can then put all your DMT into a pyrex and put a fan on it for over night. Itll be dry in the morning.

Either way will work. The re-x i explained first is alot easier and cost effective and less wasteful of materials(you use no acid, or base, and less naptha). Or you can just smoke your DMT as is, which is what i suggest.

The smell is what gives the tryptamines away, not the color. Extract, depending on the tek, the plant material, and your selection of extraction equipment/lab scruples make all the difference, not to mention the number of steps.

First pic looks like my initial toluene evaps, or a poor first rextal. You can do another, but I prefer to do a toluene pull, evap, and then a single rextal, otherwise you lose a bit with each rextal.

Gramine and several other possible toxic or unwanted indoles also smell like DMT so that`s definitely not a good rule of thumb. Also possibly toxic impurities might not smell at all (heavy metals from impure solvent, plasticizers etc).

So it depends on plant material, extraction method, type and purity of chemicals, compatibility of container material with chemicals used and general cleanliness when working.
