Jungle Spice Extraction Assistance Needed

Migrated topic.

I have finished pulling naphtha from MHRB extraction. Decided to try making Jungle Spice.

After doing a research here I'm going for these steps:
1. Add toluene to mhrb solution.
2. mix few times.
3. wait for separation and pull.
4. Evaporate pulled solvent or salt out alkaloids.

I choose salting and need some clarification regarding that.

I may not have access to fumaric acid to do Fasa/Fasi/Fasw, so is it possible to go on without it? Use just vinegar or anything?

Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Vinegar definitely works. Just add about 100ml white vinegar to your toluene, swirl around for a bit, let separate, siphon out vinegar, evap, repeat. You should get a red oily acetate which can then be freebased for smoking if desired.

Thanks. Few more questions here:

Yes you can use vinegar if you dont have fumaric acid, but you will have to wait for all your vinegar water to evaporate so you can get your goo
Approximately how long will it take to evap vinegar? Can I heat it up to fasten the process?

Is white distilled vinegar must have or can I use others too?

You will wait a few days at least if you let it air dry in a shallow dish.

I don't know the boiling point of DMT and DMT-Oxide acetates, but if I were to speed up the drying process I would put it in the oven at a temperature no higher than 50C

I have found it very effective to evaporate water/vinegar with a space heater. Specifically, around 1000 watts with a fan that has a low setting. Use a glass baking dish as the evaporation vessel. Turn on the heater with fan on the lowest setting. You just want to circulate warm air over the vessel. Using your hand, find the distance from the heater that you can hold your hand for about 30 seconds and feel the toasty breeze but no pain and this is the distance that you want to place the edge of the baking dish.

Another method I have successfully employed in the past is to find a reptile heating pad about the same size as the evaporation vessel with a temperature control. Set it as close to 50C as possible and place the evaporation vessel directly on top. Then use a small fan to create a gentle breeze over the vessel.

That's very useful tip. Will check it out.
thanks.

You could also put your glass baking dish over a pan of water on a hotplate so that the steam heats it. I usually combine this with the fan heater that syberdelic talks about.

Distilled white vinegar is a must as other types will contain lots of non volatile impurities.

Thanks for the tip. All I need now is to get the right vinegar and start "cooking". Will report the results and trip too.
Hope it will work out well. :want:

This is pretty much what I would do except I set the fan to draw air away from the solution. Definitely works.

A trick I've used in the lab before is to put some much more volatile solvent in with what you are trying to evaporate to speed up the process. A little bit of methanol should do the trick. Acetate salts are going to be very gooey, though. Food grade fumaric acid is really cheap if you look around. It is used in winemaking and in other foods, too.

so I pulled toluene from 2 mhrb solutions.
added distilled vinegar.
swirled around well.
let them seperate again.

and this is what I got.

Now I should pull out vinegar and evap it right?
and put toluene back in solution for another pull..

or is there something else?

the color of the vinegar worries me because it's almost unchanged.
maybe spice wasn't transfered from toluene to vinegar? What should I be expecting?

Edit: I recently noticed that some substance is floating between the layers. I guess this is the goo I need, or maybe not? :?: :?

So here is my brown redish goo.

Has very strong and terrible vinegar smell

Now I should research how to convert this thing into smokable freebase or smth..

You have a few options for conversion to freebase. If you want better yeilds & have access to clean naphtha or heptane & sodium hydroxide, you can dissolve the goo in distilled water & treat it like a mini extraction.

The other route you could go is to use your goo to mix with sodium carbonate & make a thick paste, then dry that & wash the sodium carbonate to leave a clean freebase.

cool thanks, I'll do a mini extraction with NaOH+Naptha:thumb_up:

If you do a mini a/b with naphtha, you wont pull 'jungle'. You used toluene to pull the alks which remained after pulling with naphtha because it is a less selective solvent and gets the full spectrum alkaloids. All you need to do now is freebase your acetate goo with sodium carbonate, let dry and pull with alcohol or acetone. The dried sodium carbonate/spice paste will go from brownish colour to white as you wash freebase jungle spice out of it. Might need to pour through a filter to catch any fine carbonate particles. Then just evap alcohol/acetone to get your jungle freebase.

oops, that makes sense, but I already did mini stb and naptha is already in a freezer. I can see some crystals at the bottom of the jar (50-100mg roughly. I'll weigh it tomorrow). I guess this is just dmt and jungle is left back in the solution.

Now I should do another toluene pull from this mini extraction solution to get the jungle back? :D

P.S. I'll do freebasing using washing soda on second toluene pull I did from original mhrb solution which is already in an evaping vinegar.

Well, jungle is mostly dmt anyway, according to analysis done by nexians such as endlessness, so you wont have missed much, especially in the 100mg range. When you do the second lot, using sodium carbonate, you can compare final products.

Yeap, I know the analysis thread. I've overviewed it some time ago and if I remember correctly there was some new data regarding containing alkaloids.
Anyway, I'll compare them and post the results. I think I'm imune to myths and placebo effects so I'll try to be as unbiased as possible
