Hello!
A friend of mine is trying to follow Lazyman's Tek, but he's run into a problem at Step 6: The naphtha isn't properly forming a distinct layer on top of the aqueous brown mix, so it doesn't seem possible to separate it.
He's using half a pound of root bark and half measures of the other ingredients as well. The mix of root bark and NaOH-water solution has soaked for 2-3 hours and been mashed with a potato masher for about 15 minutes afterwards.
After the addition of naphtha and stirring, the whole mix has been sitting for an hour. Here's a picture of it in its current state:
Does anyone know what my friend should do in order to separate the naphtha from the rest of the mix at this point?
