Lazyman's Tek (done - first extraction)

Hello!

A friend of mine is trying to follow Lazyman's Tek, but he's run into a problem at Step 6: The naphtha isn't properly forming a distinct layer on top of the aqueous brown mix, so it doesn't seem possible to separate it.

He's using half a pound of root bark and half measures of the other ingredients as well. The mix of root bark and NaOH-water solution has soaked for 2-3 hours and been mashed with a potato masher for about 15 minutes afterwards.

After the addition of naphtha and stirring, the whole mix has been sitting for an hour. Here's a picture of it in its current state:

Does anyone know what my friend should do in order to separate the naphtha from the rest of the mix at this point?

Not an expert (only one extraction completed, I also used (basically) lazyman's tek). When I did it I waited about two hours after last stirring it to get a good layer. Also, I used more than the recommended amount of naptha because the large surface area of the crock pot made it difficult to get a thick enough layer to pull any off. I guess I would say that it might not be a bad idea to pour a little more naptha in (you can always evap it off, and naptha isn't too expensive) and also give it plenty of time to form a good layer.

Looks like this at the moment. Still vaporizing.
After the phase where it was mashed it stood for around eight hours, then he put some more NaOH in, and let it stood for around 2 hours.

How does it look?

Three friends tried this, taking turns sitting each other. A fourth was also present.

All was given 30mg and smoked through plastic bottle with tin foil at the bottom.

Person A: Saw colorful patterns and in a state of pure happiness he laughed with all his heart, which made him shed tears of joy. He was in this "trance" for around 3-4 minutes.

Person B: Had some trouble inhaling it without feeling that he would hurt his lungs. Saw the the room "mirrored" for a few seconds. Felt like a cannabis-high.

Person C: Same as person B, this only felt as a cannabis-high, though more potent than just cannabis. When viewing the ceiling he felt as if it was dancing around. He had trouble inhaling the spice - felt it was way too hot.

Overall, they didn't reach Hyperspace, but Person B and C were at the road and person A was at the gate.
It seems like a nice way to start off their journey to a thousand years of wisdom, as they now know what to expect when sitting down, beginning the adventure. A lot of the pressure has been taking off.

The only problem that occurred when making this, was that the 5L bowl it was made in it, was a 10L. So there wasn't enough naphtha in it, so it was necessary to use like 375ml instead of 200ml.
I don't know if the same rules apply for when making it with powder bark. Better search for it :)

Maybe you should re-crystalize. It will yield you a cleaner product and cut back on the harshness.

As for the "not enough smoke thing," maybe a better smokin utensil would help out, if the water bottle isn't air tight you're sucking in air too...
