My dog Isis has all her pulls in mason jars in the freezer with the lid on. However, she sees a lot of pic with milk jugs cut open for this part of the process. Should she have them open? and how long do you normally have to freeze the solution?

No, they should not be open...opening them invites condensation and other unwanted annoyances such as dust and spillage. At the point where your freezer is cold enough to freeze ice cream rock solid, 6-12 hours should be more than sufficient time for a freeze precip

Yes My Good friend does the same thing he has his pulls in a mason jar and he caps it. it may be a little harder to get spice off the bottom of the jar but its still sufficient.

- i guess one advantage would be all of spice is in a small contained space.
