Lost a ton of crystals doing a wash for CIELO

I ran through the CIELO tek and managed to end up with crystals after getting a ton of goo. I ended up drying the good and adding fresh EA to the dried goo.

I got a good amount of crystals that looked just like the pictures.

I am now facing a new issue: After scraping off all the crystals, I put them in a coffee filter and poured some (sodium carbonate washed) EA through them and now a large portion of my crystals disappeared, I'm left with whiteish globs that don't look like crystals at all.

Does any one know what happened and if I can recover my crystals?

My guess is that my washed EA actually contained some invisible water that was dissolved and it actually dissolved my mescaline salts when washing.

Has anyone else faced this issue before?

Maybe you inadvertently free based your xtals with the sodium carbonate washed EA if it had some alkaline water.

Did you keep the EA wash? You can add citric acid to it and see if it clouds.

As for getting goo to begin with, did you try resting the EA in the fridge for 24h before decanting/salting? That is recommended as a starting place.

Yeah still have the EA left, so I'll give that a try, unfortunately I have reside that I believe is my Mesc left over in two containers so that will be annoying....

Here is what the remaining stuff looks like in the coffee filter, is it even mescaline? It was nice crystals before the wash, now it's clumpy white stuff:

Also when working with CIELO, do you always need to dry out your EA with MgSO4? Water presence has been an issue so many times for me, but I'm using the same brand as in the official wiki (Klean Strip)

Update: yeah that stuff in my coffee filter is definitely some kind of base. I ended up dumping it with some more citric into my previous EA and it immediately started bubbling. There is now also a water layer at the bottom, so I think that is the water that my EA absorbed...

Is this the fresh EA before you even add it to the cactus mix? or is this after you've done your pulls but before you add acid?

Also what can you expect to see from this fridge part?

Hey I asked basically the same question in another post. After you do all your pulls you put the EA extract in the fridge for 24h. After that you decant it to remove any water that might have come out of the solution and then you salt your extract.

The colder temperature in the fridge lowers the EA's capacity to dissolve water. Excess water will come out of solution, which you then separate by decanting.

Yes the water is waste and contains no mescaline.

Yes the water is waste and contains no mescaline.

That is basically true, but technically it may contain a tiny bit of free base mescaline, nothing I worry about I believe. You may also need to leave a few ml of EA behind too, loss is again inconsequential I believe.

Out of curiosity you can add fresh EA to what is left behind after decanting, enough to EA to absorb the water (100ml of fresh dry EA can absorb about 3ml of water). Then salt that with citric. You may see a few mg of mescaline crash. Not practical or worth the effort to to recover in my opinion.
