Hey there, so I started out using 90% ipa when doing my extractions however the local stores apparently stopped carrying it or whatnot so I switched to using acetone for my pulls. Ever since then, I've noticed my yields seem lower than they were with the ipa. From 100 grams of mimosa inner root bark powder I've been able to time and time again pull 5 grams of extract but only getting maybe 2 grams with acetone pulls. With 100 grams of acacia confusa root bark using everclear i yielded only 600 mgs of extract oil, even though 5 pulls were done. I then mixed 100 grams of acacia and my last100 grams of mimosa together into one brew to be based, dried and then pulled from, it only yielded about 3 grams which really saddened me. It's really puzzling to me because the extract oil readily dissolves into fresh acetone so it seems pretty darn soluble. So just in case I had saved my sodium carbonate that my brews had been evaporated down onto and decided to use more acetone to see if I could pull anything else out... when I done so, I saw a milky white color with a tint of orange or yellow... after adding a little more acetone, I decided it shouldn't hurt to add what little bit of everclear I had left, and after adding it and shaking heavily for a couple minutes or so, all of a sudden the milkyness went away and now everything is a see through yellow which indicates to me it's pulled some good stuff.
So, I don't have any acetone left, no everclear either, but did order some 99% ipa from Amazon which should be here Tuesday which maybe will be enough to pull a few more times... but I think from now on, I'll stick with the ipa, acetone seems finicky. Anyone have any suggestions or opinions?
