MHRB 'first pull' water/material proportion

Hello,

This is my first post on this site (like this site very much btw...wonderful resource...thank you ; )

My first extraction. MHRB powder. Acidic H2O approx ph3. How much water to material is optimal?
and secondly...should I bring to a boil briefly...or just do cool? (concerned of active ingredient degadation with heat). Finally how many times to repeat 'pull' on same material (don't want to waste material but not my time either).

Just for clarification...the TEK I am using describes the general process pretty well...but does not specify initial ratios. That is if I use 50g of powder how much water should I use? With the same root bark powder should I repeat the process to make sure as much active material has been solubilized to the greatest extent possible (or at least reasonably so) ? Sorry if these a dumb questions...but often details are skipped in these TEKs. Inquiring to get opinions from more experienced people than myself....

best thing to do is get all of the info you need. go over the tek in your head 10 times or more. get the products you need. set time aside to complete the tek in the time asked for (no cutting corners because you are excited or busy with other things). Plus its best to get your pipe and method of smoking down and ready before you start the tek. (nothing like completing a tek and getting your final product and then smoking it wrong because you werent ready)

step one reasearch in the WIKI at the top right of this page. ^^^
get everything on the list you will need.

the thing you dont want to do is ask a question for every step. this community is great, they wrote everything down for you to read, learn and follow. if you are stuck somewhere on the tek, then thats the time to ask for help.

Then they're bad teks and shouldn't be used.
Vovin's and Marsofold's are both quite specific and found on this site.

Well I appreciate the replies so far... they are critical but no information in them as regards the basic question/s I ask. I have looked at umpteen different TEks. Yeah right Marsifolds describes everything...NOT. A 'high' setting on a crockpot...thats really specific. I get the general procedure...it's not too tough... just trying to refine based on the observations of others.

1) What is an optimal ratio of acidic (ph3) solution to POWDERED MHRB (That is what has been found by ya'll empirically?)

2) Does a short boil tend to degrade active ingredient?

3) Root bark preps often do repeat the initial initial 'pull'...but this may not be true with powders (that is finely ground up MHRB). So my question is what has been found empirically.

I have done some homework. I am experienced with lab procedures. I am asking those with experience who can give advice as to the general procedures involved.

sorry this is going to just be useless because you want info on a/b, but STB Noman tek is easier than baking cupcakes!

Look that one up. it will tell you all of the instructions. note: for prepowdered mhrb you want to add 1.5% more water and 1.5 % more lye to the mix (only for prepowdered root bark not chopped / ground)

I directed you to two procedures that are as specific as can be for performing a basic A/B.
There are two settings on a crock pot - high and low. Pretty specific.
Learn the procedure and then refine it yourself.
Nobody works exactly the same, but everything that you need to know to get started is in those two teks.

Thank you, I will definitely look into STB. I have been begun preparations to do an A/B so will try that first.

I had pretty much decided to use a version of Noman (the illustrated one on Erowid) but Vovon's unabriged version 1.2 is pretty good so thank you for suggesting it Noman...I am pretty sure that between the two I can make it happen.

I do have a question for the sake of simplifying the process: I am presuming that defatting is not that important with MHRB... anyone had success or problems with skipping that? My understanding is that it definitely needs to be done with any grasses and leaves (chlorophyll containing material) but not so much MHRB.

Really any STB or A/B tek will be pretty easy. If you want a good A/B do Q2121 tek 2... easy as hell and the product is pure

Depends on the teks, details are often sparred top make things simple and diverse. Highly detailed teks are often regarded as too much 'work'. But in all things you get what you put in.
