Mini Manske Mystery!

Swim recently tried a mini manske as per Dr. Manske's original instructions. She filtered only twice, once through a t-shirt and once through a coffee filter. She began with 6.16 g of ground Syrian Rue and kept the liquid volumes low. Below are pics of the last supernatant liquid and the resulting crystalline lump, still wet. (Hard to see in the pic, but there are certainly crystal needles present.)

While clearly not pure, has swim removed a significant quantity of the nasties (vasicinone etc.)?

What is the color - she understands harmine/harmaline hydrochloride are tan or white?

How to estimate quantity of harmaloids vs. H and Cl, etc., the other atoms in the salt? Useful ratios?

Thanks so much - she is an eager amateur trying to get the chemistry tight!

It includes a manske step but expands further. I've tried adding explanations to make the chemistry understandable, hope it helps

Regarding how much impurities there, its impossible to know. Impurities will be salt, as well as plant oils and what not. I think your best bet is to calculate according to the amount of seeds, so if it was around 6g, thats around 2 doses of harmalas.

To get very clean full-spectrum alkaloids from rue, you can follow this caapi extraction method. To remove the “unwanted” alkaloids, do the Manske after the acidification step.
