Mosquitos and Aya or Pharma

This may sound like a dumb question, but seeing as it is the height of mosquito season in Sisters neck of the woods, it is relevant.

When one is tripping on aya or pharma do the mosquitos become irrelevant? Sister wonders because in the amazon and other parts of the world where Aya is popular there are swarms of mosquitos. All the reading about people going there to do aya with some shaman never talk about people eating their aya and going under a bug net. No, it seems to be mostly people eating their aya and then tripping.

So this makes sister wonder if while under the influence, bugs fade into the background and allow one to enjoy the trip.

Last weekend Sister was at a cottage and worked up the nerve to quaff a small dose of pharma. It ended up being too small a dose and she didn't really get off, but about the time she realized the dose was too small the bugs got out of hand. She was thinking maybe it was a good thing she didn't get off cause the mosquitos were hell, and for that reason refrained from topping up her dose with some changa.

I once went on an african safari trek through the floridian jungle 8) Once we set up camp I ate a hand full of shrooms before the sun set. Now, I knew mosquitos were bad in FL, but as the sun went down, all I could hear was the menacing hum of a sky filled with tiny winged needles. I put my hood on, my socks up, and curled into a fetal position laughing hysterically for about an hour as they attacked my friends- not noticing me because of my protection I guess.

I can not report about aya or pharma (always too gone with these ones to even notice mosquitos at all), but I can definitely report they do not give a damn about mushrooms ;]

I had to deal with mosquitos last night. Yes, they are a still a pain. The goal was to have an awesome nature experience, but found that I just buried my head in the ground so I wasn't constantly fending off mosquitos. Eventually though, they just went away on their own and I was able to enjoy. When they left, I remember thinking, "good thing they left, or the whole trip would have revolved around thoughts of avoiding blood suckers". I have become accustomed to the perfect quietness of my own bed for oral spice, and so being outside, there were more distractions and detractions.

Anyway, I would bring a mosquito hat, and also long pants, and gloves. They make full length mosquito coats for cheap, as well. I've found that a perfect mosquito shield is the mosquito hat, combined with wearing a pair of shorts over your head. The whole neck is covered, and your face fits perfectly through the leg hole. Man, when there are a lot of mosquitos, they will go for any part of your body that isn't covered, and even the mosquito hat won't stop them completely, but the shorts will.

I mean, you might notice them a little bit less on your body, but ayahuasca shouldn't mess you up so much that you wouldn't even notice mosquitos flying in your face or your eyes. That would not be good.

Maybe with ayahuasca byproducts in your blood they aren't interested. I've noticed that fresh garlic works very well in keeping mosquitoes away, but most say the ayahuasca doesn't "like" the smell of garlic either.

If i vape a bit of harmalas or take some by mouth, mosquitos cannot find a spot on me that tastes good.

I grow a great deal of mint, primarily chocolate mint as it seems to be the most prolific I've grown. A couple of handfuls of crushed mint leaves rubbed into your skin will keep the skeeters off for a few hours. It's obviously not 100% like covering up or store bought repellants, but I'd be willing to be a potent mint tea in a sprayer would be pretty effective for a small area or on the skin... and it smells a hell of alot better than Off Spray.
