Multiple hits with the GVG

If you vape DMT on harmalas, the delayed onset is slight yet significant. I typically feel the DMT coming on 5-10 seconds after inhalation (and before exhalation starts). When harmalas are thrown in the mix, the onset is delayed to somewhere typically between 15-30 seconds. Again, this is a relatively small difference, but the point is that if you're used to it coming on in 5 seconds, and you're not noticing anything take effect, you would want to probably wait at least another half a minute before taking another hit because its very possible you already have a whammy of an experience heading your way.

In terms of how long the whole thing lasts, that will depend on a variety of factors. It will obviously differ first and foremost from person to person. Strong experiences may tend to last longer than weaker ones. Duration will also be affected by how much harmalas you consume, and via what route of administration. Smoking/vaping harmala extracts will typically result in a shorter duration for an experience than if it were consumed orally. I find that strong vaped experiences on vaped harmalas can last for me upwards of 40 min. With oral harmalas, the experience can last upwards of an hour if it is very strong, and I am lucky. The afterglows may be a little extended as well. Experience duration is always kind of variable. There always remains the possibility that you'll do everything "right" with the harmalas and DMT, and still wind up with a 5-10 min experience.

If you have extracted harmalas and not just rue seed try 20mg sublingual 40 min or so before hand. I love this. It is still more like freebase than changa but more workable and easier to flow with. Feels like a portal opener to me.
 
So I keep on not being able to get everything in one hit with the GVG. I hold the flame on there for awhile, but don't see anything happening so I start to draw, but it takes awhile to get all the vapor out so my lungs are full by the time it really starts getting thick.

Can I just hold the flame on there longer without drawing at all until I actually see it start turning white? Why do people always say to start drawing slowly at the start instead of waiting for it all to come out before starting the draw?

You might want to try holding the flame closer to the filter. This will allow it to get hotter faster. Also you may want to experiment with your breath speed independent of experimenting with flame distance. If after all this, you are still having trouble, it is most likely that your DMT is running off into the GVG. How do you have your GVG set up? In other words, what does the DMT sit on (i.e. screens, ash, herb, copper mesh, etc...). If it melts and leaves the chamber before it can be vaporized, it's not terribly likely that you will be able to vaporize the run-off effectively.

I have not heard this particular advice. I would do as you say. Draw till it turns white. If it never turns white, you're definitely not doing it right. What you can do, is draw till it turns white, then hold whatever DMT might have entered your lungs for a few seconds, and then as your lungs relax to the harshness, inhale the rest without having exhaled yet, and hold that big hit in for as long as you can.
 
I am using the liquid pad. It is all getting vaporized, the problem is that by the time it is fully vaporized my lungs are already full from drawing air before the vaporization started. I am drawing until it turns white but then my lungs are full so I can't take in the rest without breathing out the portion that I already inhaled.

I think I do need to put the flame closer as you said, and perhaps just wait for the chamber to heat up for longer before I start to draw? I guess that was my real question, is there any problem with just applying the flame till I see white while not drawing at all... then start hitting it once I know it is going?
 
You need to learn to breathe out all air before taking a hit.

Bend over slightly, breathe out every last bit of air and then inhale to the top of your lungs. Your spine should straighten as you get there.

You won't see any vapor forming if you're not inhaling. You can start by torching the stone for five seconds or so before you do, and that may give you the jump start you need, but what you are describing is exactly why I prefer the ceramic stone to the liquid pad.
 
As Art said, it won't fill without inhalation, but feel free to exhale the stale air before inhaling the DMT if that vaping rhythm works for you.

Ah, I thought people were preferring the liquid pad now since Gibran posted this thread more recently than the choreboy thread. I actually got some of the ceramic pads before I had found that thread but I never ended up using them because it is smaller and seems to slide around more, I will try them out though if you think it is easier to reach vaping temp more quickly.
 
Art you were definitely right about the ceramic pad, I loaded up 17mg on it in the gvg and fired it up and it all went up together almost instantly in a big cloud. I saw something flare up in the pipe right after the vape filled up, I wonder if maybe some extra butane got in there (my torch lighter went out at first from being too vertical... can't find an arc lighter in the US yet). I went pure spice and I don't remember much, I was flying through some multicolored architecture like a palace or something at one point. Unfortunately I almost instantly got a splitting headache which I could sense throughout the trip and is still hanging around now... I'm hoping that maybe I just breathed in some butane and it's not from the spice itself.
 
Arc lighters are not the only ones that can be used vertically. I forget the name of the one I have now. I would go to smoke shops, and be particular that you are looking for a butane lighter than functions well vertically.
 
I got the vector volt that I saw someone recommend on here, it's better than what I had before but still tends to go out =/ Anyway I'm pretty sure the headache was actually from the spice, I already had a headache earlier in the day and had taken an NSAID for it but the spice brought it back on full force... probably just due to vasoconstriction I imagine.
 
I think the model I had before the one I have now was a vector. It held up really well for longer than many other lighters I've had, but eventually kicked the bucket.
 
I use a Vapman. In general it does function reliable. But like all lighters sometimes the flame vanishes when in operation.

To be sure my smoking effort does not get ruined I have a second one in front of me on the table as a back up. Better safe than sorry.
