my 1st extraction-new question -Lye or Lime???

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this,

So my first question here is...what sort of supplies should I get and where to get them from?

Any suggestions from seasoned nexians or extraction experts as to what tools and or lab equipment to aquire for an nice smooth process.?? I know I could use a seperator funnel, PH meter, some glass containers and mason jars....am I missing anything?

I have to keep it on a shoestring budget however and I'm looking for a super low key discreetly packaging supplier.

So any suggetions on what to get or places to get stuff on the net as far as lab equipment goes would be much appriciated..

Hi

Sep funnel is not really necessary unless you are really keen or wanting to do a perfect A/B Tek.

A really low key and low cost kit could be:

Glass bottle (1 litre) or 1 litre Mason Jar (Mix Jar) with lid
Plastic funnel (transferring liquids to bottle)
2x empty jam jars (keeping/transferring Naphtha)
Turkey Baster (pulling)
Glass Measuring Jug (mixing water and lye)
Glass roasting dish (cheap in supermarkets for freeze precipitating and scraping)
Tin foil and Food wrap (covers)
Gram Scale or kitchen scale (measuring lye/bark)

extras:
Blender (chopping up/powdering Bark)
Fan (drying and evapping)

Thats it really
I got my kit together for very little money....mostly from charity shops

PS.Its not as difficult as it seems...it will get easier..

I notice in the photograph you have lye there cyb....I'm hoping I'm not making a mistake by using lime....do you all think you get better yields with lye as opposed to lime?

i think its tek dependant, for example, im pretty sure the Q21Q21 tek wont work with lye, only lime.

But lye is handy for basing hamala's, so it might be worth getting some if you wanna extract from Rue/Caapi at some point in the future.

I should say 1st off that this kit and advice is for an STB

I have never used lime...I'm fine with the Lye (30g with 50g bark in 600ml water)Just DONT get it in your eyes or hands.
I do use 25/30g salt too.

The lye is alkaline and I suppose Lime is too. If you cant get Lye (v cheap)
give the Lime a shot (just need enough to raise the PH and break down the plant material).

Maybe others will have experience of Lime and will chip in...

With my Tek I can yield 1g for 50g bark...nice!

I'm taking all this into consideration for sure...50g =1g...nice!

The thing is I have some really picky hippie friends who won't smoke my DMT because it's made with chemicals or whatever... so I thought it would be nice to have DMT made with food grade products to make it seem more appealing to my overly nature obsessed friends.

But if it's too much of a pain to make the food grade tek then Oh well, can't please everyone I guess

Yeah- I probably come off like a totaly dopey newb, but I'm not.. Well, I am a newb to extracting it, and I am dopey...

just not a newb to using it, I've been using DMT and AYA regularly for nearly 5 years now, I'm just tired of relying on "other peoples generosity" for spice.

I'm a strictly spiritual user believe it or not..many Nexians here can vouch for that..

Lime will not get the PH high enough in an aqeous solution, I think you would have to use lye. Lime will work with a dry tek.

The teks in the wiki give a comprehensive list of what you will need.

Thanks for that. After reading about the salt thing, I definitely want to go with that so I will probably use lye.

Reckon you can't go wrong with a proven Tek.
I did a lot of experimenting with Salt and use it every time now.
hope you get a good yield...
