My extraction method - is it ok? How to get DMT from result caramel?

Hello,
i tryed to extract some DMT from phalaris arundinacea which i found next to my home.

-I took around 50g of this, mixed to small pieces, and put into pot with water + lemon acid (4,5 PH).
-I let it in my room for 30 hours,filtered many times throught a coffe filter and then i added 1/10 of toluene.
-I removed toluene layer and add sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), PH around 9.
-Then i add 1/10 of toluene
-I let it at home for more than 1 day, shaking it often.
-When i removed toluene layer and envapored it, i got something what looks like orange/yellow/brown caramel.

My question is - 1)How i get pure DMT from this caramel?
2)Is my extraction method correct?

i think it's all almost right.2 thinkgs:1) it's preferable to achieve pH 11 i guess to extract the goodies 2) 50g of arudinacea is veery small quantity to get something out of it 3) you could try to recridstallize it many times to get purer product..anyway i dunno if it's really possible to obtain almost pure spice and whitch solvent is preferable..maybe heptane but who knows for sure 4)there's some bad alks with your dmt in the arudinacea

Could be your phalaris has gramine, yes..

Also, pH 9 with sodium bicarb is not high enough base, use calcium hydroxide in a dry tek or sodium hydroxide in a wet tek . Afterwards, try recrystallizing your product with naphtha, see if you can get anything near crystals, maybe pre-evaping and then with freeze precipitating.

If you bioassay, start with very very low doses and dont continue usage if you feel anything wrong. Ideally get it analysed, or start growing some phalaris from seed, with known good alkaloid profile. Good luck
