Hello guys, it's my first time trying mushrooms and I have some questions. I was hoping that someone can help me out.

Is it bad to eat them without drying them? How much should I take? Is it really that bad to do it alone in a forest? How would you plan for the trip (music etc). After how many hours will I be able to drive? Any safety advice? I'm generally a strong person and I don't think I will have a bad trip or uncontrolled behavior. I have never done any psychedelics.

Is it bad to eat them without drying them?
No, not at all. Just be mindful the doses required when fresh are higher as they have a lot of water, up to 10x higher.

How much should I take?
It depends on how potent yours are and the strength of effects you want. It always involves some guesswork. Take a look here: https://erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_dose.shtml

Is it really that bad to do it alone in a forest?
No. It can be more or less risky depending on how safe the specific forest is, what you plan to do it there (e.g. stay in the same place vs. walking around), how experienced you are, and how high your dose is. You need to be the judge for that.
For a first experience, I think it would be safer either with someone else or indoors (or both), but that's for you to decide.

After how many hours will I be able to drive?
You should leave a good margin, so you are not just able to drive, but able to do it safely. I'd leave about 8 hours from ingestion.

How would you plan for the trip (music etc).
I usually like to lie down in the dark or with my eyes blindfolded, and listen to a pre-made playlist. But again that depends on what you want.

I'm generally a strong person and I don't think I will have a bad trip or uncontrolled behavior
I don't think you will either if you prepare correctly and go along with the experience. Just bear in mind that the likelihood of having a bad trip is unrelated to being "strong", and trying to deal with a difficult experience in a forceful way is in fact one of the usual ways to start having a bad trip.

Good luck with your trip!

If it's your first time and you plan to be alone in the forest, I think it would be wise to start with a low to modest dose to see how you respond to them. Mushrooms can be very powerful, and it can be pretty disorienting until you get a few journeys under your belt. A high dose can more or less incapacitate a person for hours lol, but different people respond differently.

I hope you know this forest very well and that it's a safe environment for a first experience

Good luck

To add an additional mushroom dosing resource beyond what blig provided above, you can refer to this calculator that I've used with satisfactory results - Mushroom Dose Calculator | Precise Dosing Tool

It includes a wide range of strains and calculates for other factors such as storage duration and conditions.

Enjoy and trust the process - it's a wonderfully rewarding journey. <3

Thank you guys for the fast responses. I also want to ask, is it bad to take a small dose and then redose in 1-2 hours?
It's no necessarily bad, just be very mindful of how much you redose, and how long you wait between initial consumption and the redose. Sometimes mushrooms, depending on strain, can take longer to kick in, and if you falsely believe you haven't taken enough and redose, only to then be hit with 2x the intensity, it might make your experience highly uncomfortable.

For the first few journeys, I would recommend against re-dosing, and instead just start with a slower dose, go through it, and based on that experience calibrate for your next experiences and take more or less.

I would second Nydex. When consumed as raw mushrooms, the onset can be slower (compared to tea, lemon Tek, or the mighty OJ Tek). Fresh should be faster than dried, but redosing still runs the risk of taking "too much..."

As you probably know, there is very little risk posed by the mushrooms themselves in terms of toxicity/physiological safety, but the experience itself can be, well, quite a big deal lol

Start low and go slow is a typical mantra in the psychedelic space, but sometimes you do gotta splatter your brains against the sky... For a first time, though, you might try to be gentle with yourself and stack the deck in your favor for a good experience by not going too super deep on round 1

Play the long game, respect the medicine, be kind to yourself, pack snacks and water and a little bit of comfort in case you need it. Enjoy the process 🍄💜✨

Thanks for sharing this resource! I didn't know about it, very useful.
Yeah it's great, I was thinking about making a homepage plugin out of it that we can embed on the Nexus, but I'd have to see who developed it, what the license situation looks like, and can it even be embedded in an easy way into the forum without having to fork it and code a XenForo plugin from scratch... Will have a think about it and share more in the appropriate subforum.

Hi friend, did you grow these or wild harvest them yourself?

Overall I would say it's best not to be in a rush to force an experience. You could start with ~20-35 grams of wet mushrooms, being in the forest is a perfect journey setting. Consider dehydrating/drying the remaining batch for future exploration. Report back how it goes!

Imo main questionable aspect of your plan is the forest being the place.
Are you really used to be alone in the forest? Or is just only possible place where you can use your shrooms?

I have seen multiple times that unexperienced people tripping outside in the forest were surprised by the effects and their main focus started to be an idea that they MUST go home immediately.
There is a phase of mushroom trip (first hour mostly) when very strange thoughts/emotions etc. can emerge. You should be prepared or able to not act on them.

I would personally recommend you to prepare your situation in such a way that you cannot drive unless you are really sober.

Be care in the forest, its not hard at all for experienced outdoorsman to become disoriented and get lost sober!

I have become turned around hunting big game, and luckily I carry a compose and knew my intended return destination.

Happens everyday to the best of them. Weather conditions can change quickly as well couple that with your first expedience, getting overwhelmed and lost in the woods would/could make that a horrible/deadly experience for anyone experienced or not. Take warm cloths and water and at miniums snacks

That said I gravitate towards outdoor settings away from people, with a nice base/camp setup. sometimes its nice tocrawl into a tent after and just recoup, a small fire and some good nighttime star scape is my preferred set and setting.

Some great advice here be care, Be safe and dont rush your experiance you can always go out again and take more but you can't take less once you have started!
