I don't live in mushroom paradise, at least to my current awareness, so don't expect too much from this thread, for now ;-)

I was prompted to start this thread from unexpectedly running into these. I may be wrong, but they seem very much like a psilocybe species to me. It was growing on and around dung, I think. It very clearly has a gelatinous pellicle. The gills seem very liberty cap-ish, minus the very flat bottom, and the spores will surely be dark brown. A print will come soon.

I just cannot fit it into any species that I know of.

What do you guys say?

I would advice to use also its smell when identifying mushrooms. It's especially useful in case of Psilocybe, as they have very unique and specific smell, which is quite easy to recognize.

They look similar to liberties but they are really dome shaped, liberties have a kinda nipple. If you gently pull the cap apart you should see a membrane that covers the split in the mushroom cap if they are liberty caps. You should also do a spore print to be sure. Pluck the cap off the stem & put it gills down on a piece of white paper with a glass over it for 12 hours or so. The spores that it drops should be purple-ish brown if it’s a liberty cap. Not brown or any other colour and if there is no print at all try it again with a fresh cap on a dark piece of paper. If you get a white spore print it is highly probably they are really poisonous.
