NaCNBH3 reduction with form & AA

A cat once told me that she did the NaCNBH3 reduction on tryptamine with formaldehyde and GAA, getting quite a good yield (after A/B twice ), but is still worried about it being the pictet Spengler product. - what is the melting point and or proper name of the pictet Spengler product and is it neurotoxic? Melting point of product btw is at 47 - 50C
