Need help salvaging :(

OK so im not a stranger to synth Dmt, but this is the first time ive attempted to synth w/out lye, the tek im using was very simple basically,

100 mg MHRB to 100 mg sodium carbonate
Mix with water until cookie dough consistency
Sit for 20 min,
Add Naptha, etc......

Now yest I had a great success, today, not so much.

I think where i went wrong was mixing the sodium carbonate (made from baking soda in oven)
too soon with the MHRB while it still hot?....because I got nada.
Now I have the MHRB and S.C mixture im wondering if I should either dump it start over? Or is there some way I can salvage it?

Re-reading this perhaps I could be more clear...

I heated the naptha before the pull, left it to sit for 20 minutes and stuck it in the freezer for a few hours,
but from prev, exp. I can tell its not getting cloudy etc.
Now yesterday I used this method and got about a .8
The only difference today was adding the sodium carbonate right out the oven.
Sorry if im not providing enough info, I just want to keep it short.

i'm thinking sodium carbonate not being an acceptable substitute for lye might be the crux of your biscuit...

First of all, you're not synthesizing DMT, the plant is. You're just extracting it.

Secondly, when you say it "worked yesterday", what do you mean, was it a different extraction or are you just doing more pulls from same bark/base mixture?

Also, dont just add naphtha and "let it sit", mix it well, let it stand, mix well again, etc etc.

Adding VERY hot sodium carb to your mimosa may have made some of your dmt vaporize out of the mimosa but maybe not too much. You can mix your pulls better, add more base, add some calcium hydroxide instead (which together with sodium carbonate will form lye, making it more basic and therefore making DMT migrate better to naphtha).

Dont throw it away before you tried some of those things.

Oh by the way, I guess you mean "grams" , not mg = milligrams.

yea your right about everything else tho...i meant i did the same process with a seperate batch, this was a fresh batch, ill try those ideas out thanks man!

Which is what the plant has already done for you. You're not producing anything, you're extracting it.

You're not producing anything, you're isolating a compound that is already there. Ask any chemist, s/he'll tell you.

Please use the terms correctly to prevent misunderstandings (for example, DMT synthesis talk is NOT allowed here, extraction is)

I have a FOAF who cannot understand the difference between synthesis/extraction and it highly annoys me. lol

I have explained to him several times that i'm not synthesizing anything, and that i'm simply moving the molecule from point A to point B through an extraction process. Even after explaining it to him SO MANY TIMES, he still asks me "Have you synthesized any DMT lately" every time he see's me. (fortunately i don't see him that often. lol)

I mean this as no offense to the OP! Now that you understand the difference between synthesis and extraction i doubt you will make the same mistake again! And you might even be inspired to learn more about the science behind both subjects!

As far as the extraction itself... You are trying to use Baking soda instead of NaOh for your base?? Why not stick with the tried and true Teks that are here on the Nexus? I mean, you could try the lime tek if you don't want to use Lye... but sodium bicarbonate is not a strong enough base to replace NaOh for this procedure. Or atleast i don't beleive it is...

Also, you say you added naphtha and let sit for 20 minutes? You do understand that you have to mix the NP solvent into the rootbark solution until there is no visible separation, then let it separate into two distinct layers, and repeat the mix/separate a couple more times before you remove the solvent from the extraction container, right?

Ahhh I see the diff. now, yeah I was told that is was called synthesizing from a FOAF and he was so certain i didnt know any better til now!

unfortunately im on house arrest so getting certain things is challenging....

Will try to add lime to mixture and re-pull later w. results thank you!

Good to hear brother! Glad that you had some success!

Check out the full lime tek when you get a chance. its a dry tek and avoids the usage of Lye. ALot of folks are really loving that tek! I personally haven't tried it but intend to check it out at some point.

I have no problem with the simple STB with lye though. It works great for me!

Plus its easy to get the lye in my area.
