New DMT-Nexus chat in final test phase

Dear members,

December has been a month were a lot of work was done on the new DMT-Nexus chat.


IMPROVEMENTS

For the new chat the main goals of improvement were:
* No more PHP;
* Faster;
* Stabler;
* Easier to use;
* Style like the rest of the DMT-Nexus;
* Added functionality like file uploads;
* Easier to make future enhancements;
* And no more PHP (or did I already mention that? )


TESTING

Today the new chat will replace the old chat and that means we have to check if all is working as it should. Of course the hardcore people will find several issues soon I assume, so please post those issues in this thread so we can keep track of them.

Also I have to test several disaster scenarios which means that at times the chat will break by itself and you might have to refresh the chat manually in your browser (often this is done by pressing F5).


ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONALITY/CHANGES TO COME SOON

As always, the new chat will get some additional functionality soon:
* Selection of Mood/Substance/Activity through the settings menu;
* A light colored theme;
* Checking of all icons if they will fit on a dark background;
* TRANSFER command (transfer a member to another site, only for chat mods to use);
* ATTITUDE command (show a member a section of the attitude page, only for chat mods to use);

Had trouble opening it at first because of my computers cookie setting. Once i let it set cookies it worked like a charm. I'm really looking forwards to using the chat more :d

Most mods here are decades younger than I. Take this old thing if you want but beware, we live DOWNTOWN and are ready to rumble URBAN style and your young juicy Mod and SM pineals are just the thing Nemo Amicus and I need to get our youthful vigor back!

So I don't know how important it is for the chat to work smoothly on mobile devices but it definitely acts strangely.

Galaxy s4

Once I send txt to chat my keyboard drops away and the txt field reduces it's size. Making it more difficult to select to enter txt again.

Rotating my phone (landscape) causes the entire chat Window to reduce its size to only being able to view the last line of txt received in chat. List of members in chat does the same, As does the stream Window.

"Connection with server lost, trying to reconnect.."


This has all of a sudden been appearing and i keep getting repeatedly dissconnected from chat, followed by constant reloading of the page, with this message appearing.

Is there some setting I need to finnagle?

Im using firefox on a macbook pro if that helps.

"Connection with server lost, trying to reconnect.."

This means that the server is resetting (or you have a temporary bad connection) and that the chat is waiting until the server can be reached again. Once the server can be reached again the chat will reload and you can continue again.

In the old chat when this happened it would just stay stuck doing nothing anymore, now with the new chat you know what is going on.

Yeah, I think this is that connecting issue that i's having. You should be able to see it at the bottom of the screen. Anhywho, sounds like my issue though. The chat text/etc would disappear, reload, disappear, reload.. at least fora minute straight.

Good to know I wasnt te only one.

Love the new theme and functionality, excellent work.

Is this nitpicking or could we reduce the side borders a bit ? I feel that the actual text section should be the main priority, that we should be able to see as much if not more text screen now as we could before ?

I love the new chat. Alot more visually pleasing. One question though. If you press on the "lights out" button, how do you undo that?

F5 (reload) and you are in again, though prepare for some people chuckling at your action...

New Chat worked surprisingly well on my Pantech Element tablet. It didn't auto scroll - I had to do that and it didn't show the tabs for uploads or music, but still it did work just fine.

Yea i kinda freaked out because i accidently pressed it the other day. haha. but its all good. Very impressive.
