Hey everyone, so yes this is my first post but I am hoping to get some knowledgeable help. I figured that because of the defatting process we know that the ability of a non-polar substance to pull Dimethyltryptamine from an acidified liquid (ph 4) is nonexistent or limited, however my question would be whether the acidified liquid could pull from DMT filled naptha. Could this now mean after an Acid/Base extraction into a nonpolar substance that we could then extract it back into an Acidified liquid to form a solute absent of any plant material and run it through a microfine filter or evaporate it off. Obviously in order to try evaporation you would want to use a very tiny amount of acidified solution to extract from the non-polar solution as the evaporation of water takes much longer than any of the major non-polar liquids used. Any ideas or experience on this would be great.

"Back salting" (what you propose, in essence) has been suggested when working with plant material that could need a defat, rather than defatting due to the latter's wastefulness/time intensivity. Afaik, naphtha is a poor candidate for the nps, something like Xylene, Toluene, D-Limonene would be preferable.

This procedure is used when you want a salt form of an alkaloid, such as acetate, citrate, hcl, fumarate, etc.

The problem I have doing this is that when I use vinegar to salt out my naptha it appears that the "yellow" follows the spice. It transfers into the water with acid and becomes hydrophobic with basic solutions. I dunno if that's just me and I don't fully know what I'm doing or something. But I've never seen any oil reduction from backsalting and rebasing. Note I only use mhrb.
