Hi to all. I hope to learn more by being a member of nexus. Im not sure if my experiences can be related to by people here or not, but i hope to help if i can. My first major experience with dmt was around 12 yrs old (I'm almost 40 now) my vision had always be kinda colorful in dark rooms as a child and the patters were faint, translucent and further away, i never really paid them much thought till one night in my bed around 12 yrs ish . For some reason they seemed more clear and i decided to stair hard at them, the harder and harder i looked the more and more 3,4,5... dementional they became the patterns danced and moved at many speeds and directions, numbers, equations, letters, words of some sort spinning in 3d that i could not comprehend. I had never seen them quite like this. The next day it occurred to me that no one had ever discussed this cool thing, that apparently everyone can do, and now I'm finally able to do. I brought it up at school to friends and got a lot of puzzled looks and I immediately felt self conscious, like i had said something wrong and out of place. I asked my dad when he got home from work, thinking he would laugh and say " What took ya so long boy?" Instead i got a puzzled look from him and then he said " have you been taking LSD!!??"I said whats LSD?( I had not taken any drugs at that age) He calmed himself and told me that he had seen something similar a couple times while on mescaline and then another time on mushrooms in the late sixties. He was baffled at how i was able to do this with out being on something and tripping balls. He told me to not discuss this with anybody as they would not understand and might think I'm crazy of something. That very night i went to bed and tried to enter again, but i couldn't get it going no matter how hard i tried. So i tried again and again, night after night and nothing. WTF?? Then about a month or so latter out nowhere while in bed it opened again and i jumped at the opportunity. And so the hit and miss game began. Ive keep it a secrete for decades, only telling my very close friends after a long period of friendship was established. I did tell my wife (of 18yrs now) after the first month of dating. Fast forward: 3 yrs ago my best friend tried dmt. He called me ecstatic claiming that he finally knows what I've been trying to tell him for yrs, about viewing. So he came over, i tried it, and yep thats it. I was dumbfounded that there is a substance that can do the same thing and everyone could view if they wanted to. I know that it's quite commonly accepted by folk that DMT can be released naturally in the body and can bring about intense experiences during things like near death experiences and the likes.
But I've never read anywhere about un-traumatized youths experiencing this, I'm almost envious.
Just to play devils advocate for a minute; was your childhood experience an exact replica of a DMT trip or has the test of time changed your perception of what you remember experiencing? As I'm sure this would be the explanation brought forth by some science bodies out there.
I first described the dmt experience to my best friend over 25yrs ago, although its impossible to describe, I've always tried many different ways of explaining, I did not know what dmt was till about 3 yrs ago. When i was 24 i used a computer program to try to build a pic of what it was like and showed it to my girlfriend (now my wife) and tried to explain the movements ect. Computers and pics help a lot. My wife tried dmt 3 yrs ago, and for the first time she finally understood. She been listening to me yammer on and on for 18 yrs and it was nice for me to finally listen to her perspectives. I remember my fist viewing like it was yesterday, i can still see it, not every tiny detail, but a lot. Im not sure what trama has to do with viewing. Being awake during R.E.M. is simply being awake during R.E.M. No near death or drama is needed at all. We are a psychedelic species down to our core, and were certainly not the only kids on the block as fare as the galaxy is concerned. Perhaps all intelligent consciousness is also psychedelic in root and also dream, see in color , etc. Maybe people have encounters with them from time to time, maybe they are just as startled as we are when they see us. Who knows maybe we could encounter lost loveones as well, or maybe its just gods playground for all consciousness. Not sure if this answers the question. May the force be with you. Laters.

That's a really interesting story. A similar thing used to happen to me as a kid, although I'm not positive what age. Eventually it stopped, probably once left brain dominance really kicked in...But in my case it was a psychedelic 'blob' that I would coax out of the dark while laying in bed some nights, and then it would sometimes get right in front of me and morph into countless faces. It was a sort of 'ego-death' laugh/cry experience for me every time and was very emotional. I was too afraid to ever tell anyone about it and put it in the back of my mind until I encountered psychedelics (and subsequently rediscovered some of the states I used to have access to as a kid).
There was a very interesting thread about having visions as a kid and many people reported that they had, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.

CEVs/OBEs ("viewing") have became less frequent as i get older. Throughout my teen yrs is was peaking, I was able to view aprox 12-20 times per yr, and at that age i was trying to master opening the door any time i wanted. By my early 20s it became harder, due to the stresses of adulthood I'm guessing. You have to completely clear your mind of all thoughts, to have a fighting chance. Now Im lucky to do it more than 6-12 per yr, and some yrs are better/more frequent than others.

I guess when its time its time, can't be controlled or mastered and always regulating. I think its possible that all very young children can open there minds in this way, but they lose it very early, just about the time that memory and communication become strong.
